Reading FC’s sale to Redwood Holdings was completed on 14 May 2025, ending Dai Yongge’s ownership. The club’s sale announcement and the completion coverage reviewed here do not disclose a purchase price or a Reading FC valuation. They confirm who bought the club, what the announced package included and when ownership changed—not how much the buyer paid.
What happened to Reading FC?
On 3 May 2025, Reading FC announced a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited. The club said the proposed takeover included Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground and was expected to complete once final legal technicalities were resolved. It described Redwood as a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, owned by Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair, both of New Orleans, Louisiana. Reading FC’s 3 May statement
The transaction completed early on 14 May 2025. Completion coverage reported that Redwood acquired 100% of Reading FC’s shareholding and had EFL clearance. Companies House records Redwood Holdings 1 Ltd as a person with significant control from that date and records Dai Yongge’s directorship ending on 14 May. How much did Rob Couhig pay for Reading FC?
The reviewed public sources do not state the completed deal’s purchase price or a valuation of Reading FC. That means the amount is not established by these sources; it does not prove there was no private consideration. The club’s announcement, completion reporting and Companies House filing history confirm the sale and ownership change, but do not give a price. Reading FC, BBC Sport and Companies House

It is important not to treat different financial measures as though they were the same figure:
- Share consideration: the amount paid for the club’s shares.
- Debt or liabilities: obligations that might be assumed, settled or otherwise addressed as part of a transaction.
- Asset value: a valuation of items such as the stadium or training ground.
- Club or enterprise valuation: a broader valuation that may account for assets, liabilities and other factors.
A reported bid, an asset value or a balance-sheet figure cannot establish the completed sale price unless a reliable source explicitly connects it to the transaction and explains what it measures.

Why the sale took time
The completed takeover followed a lengthy sale process. In November 2023, Reading FC said Yongge was seeking to sell and discussions with potential bidders were continuing; it also said bidder identities and bid structures had to remain private. Reading FC’s 9 November 2023 update
In March 2025, the club said exclusivity remained in place with a proposed purchaser. It also explained that Yongge had to divest his interests after being disqualified as a director. Reading FC’s 27 March 2025 statement
