There is no single cheapest website builder. Hostinger has the lowest verified long-term advertised rate in this comparison, but it requires paying for four years upfront; IONOS has the lowest verified first-year promotion, followed by a much higher renewal price. For a blog, WordPress.com may be a better fit, while Carrd is worth checking for a one-page site. Prices below are US figures checked in August 2026 where available—not confirmed April 2026 prices—and can change.

How to compare website-builder prices

A monthly figure can describe a promotional rate, an annual-billing equivalent, or a multiyear plan paid in full today. Those are different costs. Compare the amount charged now, the length of the commitment, the renewal rate, and any extras needed to make the site usable.

  • First-term cost: the amount charged for the introductory billing period.
  • Ongoing cost: the price after the promotion or initial term ends.
  • Usable cost: the minimum plan that supports your needs, such as a custom domain, branding removal, forms, or selling.
  • Total cost: the subscription plus domain renewal, email, payment processing, apps, and other required add-ons.

This comparison covers hosted builders that include hosting and can be used without coding. A free plan, a free trial, and a paid plan that includes a first-year domain are not interchangeable. Prices and offers are subject to change; check the vendor’s checkout page for taxes, term, and renewal details.

Website builders: verified prices and what remains to check

Where the available vendor information does not establish a price or feature, the table says so rather than treating an estimate as a fact. “Not stated” is not a price recommendation: check the linked official page before choosing a plan.

Hostinger Website Builder Premium: $2.99/month equivalent for 48 months, $143.52 upfront; renews at $10.99/month. Business: $3.79/month equivalent for 48 months; renews at $16.99/month. Qualifying plans include a domain for one year. Budget all-in-one sites; Business adds ecommerce. The lowest rate requires four years prepaid. Hostinger plan details and its upfront-billing explanation.
IONOS Website Builder Plus: $1/month for one year, then $20/month. Starter: $6/month for one year, then $14/month. Plans include a custom domain and professional email, according to IONOS. Keeping the introductory-year outlay low. Promotional first-year prices rise substantially at renewal. IONOS plan details.
WordPress.com Personal: $4/month billed annually ($48 for the year); $9/month with monthly billing. Personal includes a domain for one year. Blogs and content sites. Confirm current plan eligibility for plugins and the renewal price. US pricing and plan comparison.
GoDaddy Website Builder Basic: $9.99/month with annual billing. Free starting tier also offered. Annual Website Builder plans include a custom domain, according to GoDaddy. Simple business sites. Check which business and marketing features require an upgrade. GoDaddy plan details.
Wix US plan price and billing total: not stated in the available official-page information. Free starting option; paid plans and custom-domain availability are described on the plans page. Beginners seeking a flexible visual builder. Confirm the US price and which paid tier removes branding and supports the required business features. Wix plans.
Squarespace US plan prices, annual totals, and renewal prices: not stated in the available official-page information. A 14-day trial is offered; this is not a permanent free plan. Annual billing is advertised as saving up to 36%. Design-led portfolios and small-business sites. Check current US plan names, fees, and renewal terms. Squarespace pricing.
Carrd Current US Pro price and billing term: not stated in the available official-page information. Check the Pro tier for custom-domain and other required features. One-page sites, landing pages, link pages, and simple portfolios. It is a specialist option, not a like-for-like replacement for a large site, complex blog, or full store. Carrd Pro plans.

A basic site if its current terms fit your needs. Verify ecommerce limits, export options, and renewal pricing before buying. Webador pricing.

What each verified price buys

Hostinger: low effective rate, high upfront commitment

Hostinger’s Premium Website Builder listing includes up to three websites, 20 GB storage, a domain for one year on qualifying plans, and two mailboxes per website for one year. Its Business plan adds ecommerce, supports up to 1,000 products, and advertises no transaction fee. The displayed Premium price works out to $2.99 a month only because $143.52 is paid for 48 months in advance; it is not a month-to-month offer. The quoted renewal is $10.99 a month for Premium and $16.99 a month for Business. See the plan listing and billing explanation.

Choose it if the upfront payment is acceptable and the included tools match your site. Avoid comparing its effective monthly figure directly with a monthly-billed plan without accounting for the cash required today. A domain included for year one also does not establish the cost of domain renewal.

IONOS: lowest verified launch-year promotion

IONOS lists Plus at $1 a month for one year, followed by $20 a month; Starter is $6 a month for one year, followed by $14 a month. Its page says plans include a custom domain, professional email, mobile-optimized sites, marketing tools, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Prices are promotional and can depend on region, tax, and term. The low introductory rate is not the ongoing cost; compare the renewal before committing. See IONOS’s current plan terms.

WordPress.com: an entry price for a hosted blog

For US customers, WordPress.com lists Personal at $4 a month when billed annually, or $9 a month when billed monthly. The annual option is $48 for the year before tax. The plan includes a domain for one year, 6 GB storage, unlimited pages, posts, users, and visitors, no visitor-facing ads, a guided builder, and selected premium themes. Check the current plan comparison for plugin eligibility and renewal pricing. Lower tiers may not provide the customization, themes, plugins, or commerce options a particular site needs. WordPress.com is a hosted website platform. WordPress.org is software you install and maintain with separate hosting. The latter can provide more control, but hosting, domain, backups, security, updates, and troubleshooting belong in its cost comparison.

GoDaddy: a free starting point and an annual paid plan

GoDaddy promotes a free Website Builder tier and lists Basic at $9.99 a month with annual billing. Its page says annual Website Builder plans include a free custom domain. The free tier is useful for trying an idea or publishing a low-stakes page if its limits are acceptable; the available plan information does not establish that it includes everything needed for a professional site. Check the plan comparison for branding, forms, marketing, and payment features before relying on it for a business. GoDaddy Website Builder

Wix: verify the US tier that fits

Wix offers a free starting option and paid plans. Its official plans page describes hosting, AI creation tools, customer care, domain availability on paid plans, and a 14-day money-back guarantee. The displayed pricing can be region-sensitive and may include tax; the available price information does not establish a US rate. Compare the US checkout price for the tier that both connects a custom domain and removes any branding you do not want. Wix plans

Squarespace: paid design focus, not a permanent free tier

Squarespace offers a 14-day trial, not a permanent free plan. Its pricing page advertises annual-billing savings of up to 36% and describes templates, drag-and-drop editing, mobile optimization, SEO tools, and support, with features varying by plan. The available information does not establish current US plan totals, renewal prices, or transaction fees; check those details against the exact plan and billing term. It is most relevant when design and an integrated editing experience matter more than the lowest subscription price. Squarespace pricing

Carrd: compare it for a one-page site

Carrd is designed for focused, compact sites such as landing pages, link pages, simple portfolios, and personal profiles. Check the current Pro price and whether the features you need—such as a custom domain, forms, widgets, analytics, or branding removal—require that tier. Its scope makes it a poor fit for a content-heavy multi-page site or complex online store. Carrd Pro

Webador: check the terms before treating it as a budget pick

Webador is a candidate for a simple site, but the available information does not establish its current US price, renewal rate, custom-domain rules, or limits. Verify those alongside branding, ecommerce, traffic, and export options before comparing it with the priced plans above. Webador pricing

Choose by the site you need to build

  • Free experiment or hobby page: Start with a vendor’s free tier if a platform subdomain, branding, and feature limits are acceptable. GoDaddy and Wix currently advertise a free starting option; check each plan’s limits before publishing.
  • Professional basic site: Compare Hostinger Premium’s four-year prepaid total and renewal with WordPress.com Personal’s annual total. The former is a visual-builder bundle; the latter is oriented toward publishing and blogging.
  • Lowest verified first-year promotion: IONOS Plus is listed at $1 a month for one year, but its stated renewal is $20 a month. Decide based on the renewal as well as the launch-year outlay.
  • Blog or content site: WordPress.com Personal is the clearest priced entry option here. Check storage, customization, plugin eligibility, and monetization needs before choosing it.
  • Local service business: Hostinger, IONOS, and GoDaddy are options to compare for bundled domains and business tools. Price the plan that actually includes the forms, bookings, payments, or marketing you need—not just the entry tier.
  • One-page landing page or portfolio: Check Carrd’s current Pro terms first. For a multi-page, design-led portfolio, compare Squarespace’s checkout price and renewal instead.
  • Small online store: Hostinger Business has the clearest verified low subscription signal in this comparison: $3.79 a month equivalent on a 48-month prepayment, with up to 1,000 products and a vendor-advertised zero transaction fee. Compare payment-processing fees, shipping and tax tools, integrations, and plan limits too; a low subscription alone does not establish the cheapest selling cost.

Costs that can make a cheap plan more expensive

  • Domain renewal: A first-year domain inclusion is not a permanent free domain. Find the renewal price and renewal date.
  • Email: Check whether mailboxes are included, for how long, and whether they cover every site or user you need.
  • Plan upgrades: Custom domains, removing branding, booking, forms, ecommerce, extra sites, or more storage can require a higher tier.
  • Store costs: Add payment-processing charges, any platform transaction fee, shipping, tax tools, and paid apps to the subscription.
  • Taxes and billing: Confirm whether the checkout total includes sales tax, the amount charged today, and whether the displayed monthly figure requires annual or multiyear prepayment.
  • Exit costs: Check what can be exported or moved if you outgrow the platform. Design portability and migration effort can matter more than a small difference in the first year’s price.

Before you pay

  1. Open the plan comparison and identify the least expensive tier that supports your actual requirements.
  2. At checkout, record the full amount charged today, billing term, tax, and renewal price.
  3. Calculate the second-year cost, including domain and email renewals and any required upgrade.
  4. Confirm cancellation, refund, and domain-transfer terms before purchasing.
  5. Keep a copy of your content and any available exports or backups; do not assume the site design can move intact to another builder.
  6. Before publishing an AI-generated site, review factual claims, mobile layout, accessibility, SEO titles, image rights, and form submissions.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
