T-Mobile’s Galaxy S25+ Broken-Phone Deal Was Real—but It Expired in 2025

T-Mobile’s Galaxy S25+ broken-phone trade-in offer was real, but it required an eligible device, Go5G Next and 24 months of bill credits. The launch promotion ended April 2, 2025.

Yes. T-Mobile’s January 2025 launch promotion let eligible customers trade in a phone in any condition for up to $1,000 off a Galaxy S25+, making the phone free after bill credits for some customers. But the offer required a qualifying plan—Go5G Next for the any-condition trade—plus 24 months of bill credits. Taxes and a $35 device connection charge still applied. T-Mobile’s archive says the promotion ended April 2, 2025, so it should not be treated as a current deal.

What T-Mobile offered at launch

Announced January 22, 2025, the promotion advertised the Galaxy S25+ “on us,” with up to $1,000 in value when a customer traded in an eligible device. The 256GB S25+ had a listed full price of about $999.99, so the maximum promotion could offset its installment cost. The phone went on general sale February 7, 2025. T-Mobile’s launch announcement and its archived offer terms describe the offer.

The phrase “broken-phone trade-in” was broadly fair, but incomplete: the device had to be eligible under the offer. “Any condition” referred to condition, not to every make, model, or object a customer might hand over.

Which plan accepted a phone in any condition?

T-Mobile distinguished the offers by plan. Its launch announcement said an eligible device in any condition could qualify for the S25+ offer on Go5G Next. Go5G Plus had a comparable S25+ offer, but the trade-in had to be in working condition. Do not assume the broken-device provision applied to every T-Mobile plan, or that a separate offer for another Galaxy model had identical rules.

T-Mobile said new and existing customers, including business customers, could participate. That did not guarantee that every account or line qualified: the plan, financing approval, account standing, line status, and transaction requirements could affect eligibility.

How the “free” phone was paid for

This was a financing promotion, not a $0 phone handed over with no continuing obligation. The customer financed the device, and T-Mobile applied the promotional value as bill credits over 24 months. The archived terms show credits of up to $41.67 per month, totaling up to $1,000. The actual credit depended on the qualifying device and offer tier.

  1. The customer bought the S25+ using a qualifying equipment-installment transaction and submitted an eligible trade-in.
  2. T-Mobile applied any applicable one-time trade-in value and delivered the remaining promotional value as monthly bill credits.
  3. The credits could take up to two billing cycles to appear, so the first bill might show an installment before the credits start.
  4. The account had to remain eligible under the promotion. T-Mobile’s archived terms say canceling service can end remaining credits and leave the unpaid device balance due; paying off the phone early can also stop the credits.

That timing matters for budgeting. A customer needed to be able to cover the device installments while waiting for credits to begin, and should not count on receiving the full advertised value if planning to leave T-Mobile or pay off the phone early.

  • Built with premium materials (glass + aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2), IP68 water/dust resistance, and includes long‑term support: Android 15 with One UI 7, and Samsung’s promise of up to 7 years of OS/security updates.

What the customer still paid

  • Sales tax: T-Mobile’s terms said tax was due on the phone’s pre-credit price, not just the amount left after the promotion.
  • Device connection charge: The archived offer listed a $35 charge.
  • Possible down payment or installment: The amount depended on the transaction and financing qualification.
  • Any price above the offer maximum: A configuration or storage upgrade not covered by the maximum credit could leave a remaining cost.

For example, a qualifying customer receiving the maximum $1,000 in credits against a roughly $999.99 256GB S25+ could have the device installments offset over time. That does not mean the checkout total was zero: tax on the pre-credit price, the $35 charge, and any required down payment remained separate. The example is not a guaranteed quote for every customer or configuration.

What counted as an eligible broken phone?

T-Mobile’s archived terms tied eligibility and credit amount to the trade-in model. They give examples including a Galaxy S10 for the $1,000 tier and a Galaxy S6 for a $500 tier, and require the trade-in’s IMEI. These examples show why “any condition” did not mean “any phone gets $1,000.” The offer’s device list and account-specific checkout determined the value.

  • Check the exact model against the offer’s eligible-device list before relying on a quoted credit.
  • Have the IMEI available so the phone can be identified and checked.
  • Describe the device’s condition accurately. A cracked screen or other damage may fit an any-condition offer, but the phrase does not establish that an unidentifiable device, a device reported stolen, or a device barred from acceptance will qualify.
  • If the phone is financed, leased, or otherwise encumbered, check the obligations with the other carrier or seller. A trade-in does not erase what is owed on that device.

The archived terms establish model and IMEI requirements; they do not make “any condition” a blanket waiver of eligibility checks. Confirm the specific phone and transaction with T-Mobile rather than assuming a damaged device will be accepted.

Why the deal could cost more than the phone savings

The handset credit was only one part of the economics. If a customer had to move to a more expensive plan to qualify, the relevant comparison was the extra service cost over the full 24 months—not just the S25+’s retail price.

Use this framework with the plan prices and account details that apply to you:

Practical promotion cost = extra qualifying-plan cost over 24 months + taxes and fees + any lost value from the trade-in − promotional credits.

Compare the qualifying plan with the service plan you would otherwise keep, then add the upfront charges and consider the value of the phone you are trading in. A damaged phone with little resale value can make the offer more attractive; upgrading service solely to obtain the phone can make it a poor bargain. Plan pricing and eligibility can change, so historical plan economics should not be substituted for a current quote.

How it compared with Samsung’s direct trade-in

Samsung’s published direct-trade-in terms generally required a device that powered on and held a charge, had a functioning display, and was free of cracks or breaks unless a special cracked-screen offer applied. The device also had to meet other conditions, including not being blacklisted and being reset with account locks removed. Samsung reserves the right to charge back a trade-in credit if inspection finds the submitted phone does not meet the terms. See Samsung’s S25+ purchase and trade-in terms.

That made T-Mobile’s launch offer potentially more useful to someone whose eligible phone was badly damaged. Samsung’s rules are not an absolute ban on cracked phones—special offers can differ—and a direct unlocked purchase avoids tying phone credits to a carrier account. The trade-off is whether the unlocked phone’s price and available trade-in value beat the total cost of T-Mobile service and its promotion conditions.

What happened to the promotion?

T-Mobile’s official promotional archive lists the Samsung Galaxy Promo with Trade, ID250057 / code R013, as starting January 22, 2025, and ending April 2, 2025. It is a historical launch offer, not a deal readers should assume is available now. Search results or product pages can retain old promotional language; verify any present-day offer in a live T-Mobile checkout and read its current terms before making a purchase.

Who the offer suited—and who should have passed

It made the most sense for

  • A customer who already had Go5G Next and planned to keep qualifying T-Mobile service for the 24-month credit period.
  • Someone with an eligible, badly damaged trade-in that would otherwise have little resale or trade-in value.
  • A shopper who wanted the S25+ and was comfortable with carrier financing and account-dependent credits.

It was less appealing for

  • Someone who would upgrade to a more expensive plan solely for the phone, without first comparing the 24-month service-cost difference.
  • A customer who expected to switch carriers, cancel service, or pay off the device before all credits arrived.
  • Someone with a working phone that could be sold for meaningful money, or a buyer who prioritized an unlocked phone and no carrier-credit commitment.
  • A device owner still responsible for another carrier’s financing, lease, or other obligation.

The Galaxy S25+ was a premium phone with a 6.7-inch display measured diagonally across the full rectangle (6.5 inches accounting for rounded corners), and support for 45W wired charging with Samsung’s recommended 45W adapter and cable. Those features help explain the appeal of a large advertised credit, but they do not make the promotion valuable if the plan commitment costs more than the benefit. Samsung lists the display and charging specifications on its Galaxy S25+ specifications page.
