A U.S. Tier 1 gift subscription bought on Twitch’s website is currently listed at $5.99 before any applicable tax. A streamer on the standard 50/50 split would get about $3.00 in a simplified calculation; qualifying streamers in Twitch’s Plus Program would get about $3.59 at 60/40 or $4.19 at 70/30. These are estimates, not guaranteed payouts: Twitch applies the streamer’s share to net subscription revenue, and the actual amount depends on the transaction and the streamer’s agreement.

How much does a streamer get from a $5.99 gift sub?

Twitch’s listed U.S. Tier 1 web price is $5.99. Applying common revenue-share rates to that price gives these rough examples:

Streamer’s share Simplified calculation Approximate amount
Standard 50/50 $5.99 × 50% $3.00
Plus Program Level 1, 60/40 $5.99 × 60% $3.59
Plus Program Level 2, 70/30 $5.99 × 70% $4.19

The $5.99 figure is Twitch’s current U.S. Tier 1 web list price, not a universal price or necessarily the final checkout total. The calculations assume the full list price is the revenue base. Twitch’s Affiliate Program FAQ and Monetized Streamer Agreement describe the creator’s share as a percentage of net revenue, so these figures should not be read as a promise of what will appear in a payout.

What a gifted subscription is—and what the buyer pays

A gifted subscription is a one-time purchase that gives another viewer, or a randomly selected community member, subscription benefits for the gift period. It supports the channel, but it does not automatically sign the recipient up for recurring charges. The recipient can later choose to subscribe independently. Twitch explains gift options and recipient rules in its Gift Subscriptions help page.

The buyer’s cost depends on the tier, country, purchase method, gift duration, taxes, and any promotion or discount. Twitch sets subscription prices; the streamer does not set the base price. Its country price table lists web prices and notes that prices can change. The listed price may not include tax, so check the final checkout screen rather than assuming the displayed list price is the amount charged.

Why the streamer’s amount can differ from the estimate

Buyer cost, Twitch’s net revenue, and the streamer’s eventual payout are separate figures. The calculation that matters is:

Estimated streamer revenue = Twitch-defined net subscription revenue × the streamer’s revenue-share percentage

  • Sales tax or other transaction taxes, and payment-processing or bank fees.
  • Currency conversion costs and local subscription pricing.
  • A discount or promotion, which may mean the share is calculated on a reduced amount.
  • Refunds or chargebacks, and tax withholding that may apply after the split.
  • Differences between web and mobile purchases, which do not necessarily use the same price.

Twitch’s local-pricing guidance says local prices apply to gift subscriptions as well as regular subscriptions. For example, if a Tier 1 gift costs $1.99 in a particular local-price context, a 50% share of that price is about $1.00 before applicable deductions—not $3.00. That is still only an illustration, because the actual share is based on net revenue.

Twitch’s published price table is for web purchases and excludes mobile subscription prices. Its mobile subscriptions guidance says mobile gifting supports single-month Tier 1 gifts, while multi-month gifts are not currently supported in Twitch’s mobile apps. Web gifting offers three-, six-, and twelve-month Tier 1 options in specified circumstances. Check the purchase flow for the available tier, duration, and price.

How the standard 50/50 split works

Twitch describes 50/50 as the standard Affiliate subscription revenue split, subject to the agreement and deductions that determine net revenue. It is not necessarily half of the buyer’s checkout total. A simple calculation of $5.99 × 50% gives $2.995, or about $3.00 when rounded, but the net-revenue basis can make the final amount different.

Do not assume every Partner or every creator has the same share. Account-specific or contractual terms may differ; the percentage in the creator’s dashboard or agreement is the relevant one.

When a streamer may receive 60% or 70%

Eligible streamers in Twitch’s Plus Program can receive an enhanced share of eligible net subscription revenue, including revenue from gift subscriptions. The program has two levels:

  • What’s live? Everything: Esports tournaments? Yep. Cooking shows? Got ‘em. Some guy in a chicken suit with a trumpet? We wouldn’t be surprised.
  • Whatever you're into, it's on Twitch: Watch esports pros, catch a live tour of Tokyo, or learn how to bake. There’s always something live and new on Twitch.
  • Play your part: Streamers kick it all off, but you help decide what happens next. With chat, emotes, and more, this party bus goes where you steer it.
  • Find your squad: Chat, laugh, and bond together. It’s like sharing one couch with thousands of friends.
  • Support streamers: Use Bits to interact with your favorite streamers, unlock exclusive badges and emotes with a sub, or gift subs to spread the love to friends and communities.
Plus Program level Share of eligible net subscription revenue Qualification threshold
Level 1 60/40 At least 100 Plus Points for three consecutive months
Level 2 70/30 At least 300 Plus Points for three consecutive months

Twitch assigns 1 Plus Point to a Tier 1 paid recurring subscription, 2 to Tier 2, and 6 to Tier 3. Gift subscriptions do not earn Plus Points toward qualification, even though they can generate eligible revenue once the streamer qualifies. Prime subscriptions also do not count toward Plus Points. If a recipient later starts a paid recurring subscription, that separate subscription may count when the viewer is charged. See Twitch’s Plus Program rules for current qualification and revenue details.

On the simplified $5.99 example, 60% is $3.594, or about $3.59, and 70% is $4.193, or about $4.19. Those amounts are arithmetic illustrations—not assured payouts from a gift purchase.

Does a higher-tier gift pay more?

Tier 2 and Tier 3 subscriptions have higher prices than Tier 1, so applying the same share to a higher eligible net-revenue amount can produce more creator revenue. The precise price depends on country and purchase method, and available tiers can vary by device and purchase flow. Twitch’s country price table covers web prices; use the checkout price and the streamer’s actual share to make a relevant estimate rather than applying a single global Tier 2 or Tier 3 figure.

How to estimate a batch of gift subs

For a rough estimate, multiply the relevant listed price by the number of gifts and then by the streamer’s share. For ten U.S. Tier 1 gifts at the $5.99 web list price, the simplified arithmetic is:

Share Simplified estimate for 10 gifts
50/50 $29.95
60/40 $35.94
70/30 $41.93

As with a single gift, these totals assume the full list price is the revenue base. They are not final-payout guarantees; net-revenue adjustments, local prices, and any applicable deductions can change the result.

How a streamer can check the actual amount

  1. Open the Creator Dashboard and go to Analytics or Earnings Analytics to review subscription earnings and the available transaction breakdown.
  2. Check the account’s displayed revenue-share terms in the dashboard or applicable agreement; do not infer the rate from another streamer’s split.
  3. Distinguish estimated earnings from finalized revenue and the amount included in a payout. A stream alert confirms an event, not the final payout amount.

Twitch points creators to Earnings Analytics and the dashboard for account-specific details. Its 2026 monetization announcement also discusses a $50 minimum payout threshold and U.S. Spendable Balance; those payout mechanics do not change the calculation of a particular gift’s revenue share.
