HONOR’s overseas smartphone shipments grew about 55% year over year in the first three quarters of 2025, the fastest rate among the global top 10 vendors in Omdia’s comparison. That is a notable international-growth result—not proof that HONOR grew faster than every Chinese phone maker in every market, or that it became the largest. Its full-year global shipments grew 11%, a different measure covering a different period.
What did HONOR actually outperform?
Omdia’s headline comparison is about overseas shipments from Q1 through Q3 2025. HONOR’s overseas shipments rose about 55% year over year, the strongest overseas growth among vendors in Omdia’s global top 10. Omdia also described it as the fastest-growing major Chinese vendor abroad. The comparison does not cover every Chinese manufacturer, smaller brand, sub-brand, or locally focused company. Omdia’s report provides the scope and regional detail.
Keep that figure separate from the full-year result. Omdia estimated that HONOR’s total global shipments grew 11% in 2025, while worldwide smartphone shipments grew 2%. Those are full-year global shipment estimates, not the 55% overseas figure. Shipments measure devices sent into distribution channels; they do not establish how many phones consumers bought or whether HONOR gained market share in every market. Omdia’s 2025 market summary also reports that Nothing grew 86% overall, illustrating why “fastest-growing smartphone brand” would be too broad a description of HONOR.
| Measure | What Omdia reported | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| Overseas shipments, Q1–Q3 2025 | About 55% year-over-year growth | Fastest overseas growth among Omdia’s global top 10 vendors; not total global growth. |
| Total global shipments, full-year 2025 | 11% growth | A separate full-year measure; global smartphone shipments grew 2%. |
| Overseas share of HONOR’s own shipments | Nearly half by Q3 2025 | Omdia says the share was below 10% at the beginning of 2021; this describes HONOR’s mix, not its market share. |
| Global shipments, Q1 2026 | 19.2 million units; fastest growth among the global top 10 | A later quarterly result, not proof of full-year 2026 performance. |
The Q1 2026 result suggests the international momentum continued into that quarter, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, where HONOR more than doubled shipments year over year. Omdia also reported a decline in Mainland China. The result is a useful update, but one quarter cannot establish a continuing annual growth rate. Omdia’s Q1 2026 report gives its figures and market context.

Why overseas growth changed HONOR’s business
The shift is more significant than a single growth rate suggests. At the beginning of 2021, overseas shipments made up less than 10% of HONOR’s global volume; by Q3 2025 they were close to half. HONOR was becoming a more international vendor, rather than relying as heavily on its home market. That does not mean the brand had become a global volume leader: growth rate and total scale are different measures.
It also makes the China and overseas stories diverge. HONOR faced intense competition in Mainland China even as its international shipments expanded. In Q1 2026, Omdia reported that its shipments declined in Mainland China while international markets drove its top-10 growth position. That is evidence of uneven performance, not a general takeover of rival brands.
Where HONOR’s international growth came from
Europe: a foothold, with modest annual growth
HONOR entered Europe’s top five vendors for the first time in 2025, according to Omdia. Its European shipments reached 3.8 million, up 4% for the year. The X series contributed in the affordable segment, while Western Europe—particularly the UK and France—mattered to its higher-end positioning. The 4% regional increase is far below the 55% overseas figure, a reminder that growth varied significantly by market. Omdia’s Europe report details the result.

Latin America: the largest overseas base
Omdia identified Latin America as HONOR’s largest overseas shipment base. The brand reached a record 2.9 million quarterly shipments there in Q3 2025, with the Caribbean, Colombia, and Ecuador contributing to the result. Selected Q1–Q3 figures show both rapid growth and substantial differences between markets:
| Market | HONOR shipment growth | Market share | Rank |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peru | 5% | 21% | 3rd |
| Central America | 48% | 20% | 2nd |
| Caribbean | 122% | 16% | 3rd |
| Ecuador | 89% | 10% | 4th |
| Mexico | 7% | 8% | 5th |
| Brazil | 478% | 1% | 8th |
These are Omdia’s market-level figures for Q1–Q3 2025; the 478% Brazil increase, alongside a 1% share and eighth-place rank, is a clear example of how fast growth from a small base can coexist with limited scale. The regional market is also price-sensitive: about 71% of Latin American shipments were below $300, according to Omdia. HONOR’s expansion there should not be mistaken for dominance in premium phones. See Omdia’s Q3 2025 Latin America analysis.
Middle East and Africa: sharp regional gains
HONOR’s shipments in the Middle East rose 128% year over year in Q3 2025. In Q4 2025, it was the fastest-growing major vendor in the region, with shipments up 94% year over year. Those are quarter-specific regional rates, not a single annual growth figure. The later Q1 2026 report said HONOR more than doubled shipment volume year over year across the Middle East and Africa. Omdia’s Q3 Middle East report and its full-year regional report provide the period-specific comparisons.

Southeast Asia: growth across several countries
For Q1–Q3 2025, Omdia reported HONOR shipment growth of 40% in Malaysia, 177% in the Philippines, 106% in Thailand, 156% in Singapore, and 139% in Vietnam. The figures show breadth across several markets, but they do not by themselves reveal the brand’s share, sales to consumers, or profitability in each one.
How HONOR’s product and distribution strategy supported expansion
A move up from the cheapest phone segment
About 23% of HONOR’s overseas shipments in Q1–Q3 2025 were in the $300–$499 range, the highest proportion among major Chinese vendors in Omdia’s comparison. That indicates a push beyond entry-level volume, though it does not make HONOR a leader in ultra-premium phones or establish the profitability of that mix. Xiaomi, by contrast, has historically had substantial volume below $200; in Q1 2026 Omdia said more than half of Xiaomi’s shipments were concentrated below that price point.

HONOR’s international portfolio included the X9d, HONOR 400, and foldable Magic V5. Omdia associated the X9d with battery life and durability positioning, while the 400 and Magic V5 supported a broader mid-to-high-end pitch. In Western Europe, the Magic V5 helped HONOR place second in the book-style foldable segment during Q1–Q3 2025. That is a meaningful premium-product foothold, but it is one segment and not the main explanation for broad shipment growth.

AI demonstrations were part of HONOR’s retail approach, alongside product attributes such as design, battery life, durability, and foldables. Omdia’s evidence does not quantify AI as the cause of the shipment increase, so it is more accurate to treat it as part of the sales presentation than as a proven growth driver.
Channels mattered as much as launches
HONOR expanded branded retail, relationships with key-account retailers, operator partnerships, and service centers; it also adapted products and specifications to local markets. Omdia cited local manufacturing in Indonesia and in-store demonstrations among its efforts. These steps can improve visibility, availability, and local support—important factors in markets where carrier relationships and retail shelf space shape what consumers can buy. They also require spending on channel support, inventory, and service infrastructure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is HONOR taking share from Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo, or Huawei?
The available shipment figures establish fast expansion, but not that HONOR displaced each named rival across international markets. A vendor can ship more phones as a market grows, enter countries or retail channels where it previously had little presence, or gain business from smaller suppliers without taking share from Xiaomi, OPPO, or vivo. Share gains require market-level share comparisons over the same period; shipments alone are not enough.

Brand comparisons also depend on how analysts group companies. Some trackers may combine OPPO with OnePlus or realme, while other presentations treat them separately. Huawei is a Chinese phone maker, but describing it simply as an Android brand is misleading because many current Huawei devices use HarmonyOS. HONOR’s historical relationship with Huawei does not establish that current HONOR growth is Huawei growth under another name.
For buyers, the growth story is a signal to compare HONOR seriously where it is officially sold—not a reason to assume every model is the best choice. Check the exact country’s availability, Google services, software-update commitments, warranty, repair access, carrier compatibility, and model-specific price. These vary by market. In the United States in particular, official availability and carrier support may be limited; an imported phone can bring compatibility, warranty, returns, and replacement-parts risks.
What could slow HONOR’s momentum?
- A larger base: sustaining very high percentage growth becomes harder as shipment volume rises.
- Price and component pressure: memory and other component costs can squeeze manufacturers, especially in highly competitive lower-price tiers.
- Channel economics: retail expansion and operator partnerships may boost reach but add marketing, inventory, and support costs.
- Local ownership experience: warranty coverage, repairs, software consistency, and update timing need to hold up across the countries where HONOR is expanding.
- Demand versus channel stock: shipment estimates do not show whether devices sell through to consumers at the same pace.
- Uneven regional performance: gains in Latin America, the Middle East, or Southeast Asia can coexist with weaker results elsewhere, including China.
A more durable challenge to established vendors would show up not just in further shipment growth but in sustained market-share gains, consumer sell-through, profitable sales, repeat purchases, and reliable local support. The cited figures establish momentum; they do not yet settle those longer-term questions.
