On March 2, 2020, Data Center Knowledge reported that Bo Bond and Ali Greenwood left JLL to join Cushman & Wakefield’s Global Data Center Advisory in Dallas. The announcement described them as a team focused on data center real estate advisory—not a current update on where either broker works today.

Who joined Cushman & Wakefield, and what were their roles?

According to Data Center Knowledge’s March 2, 2020 report, Bond joined as executive managing director and Greenwood as executive director. Both were to work from Cushman & Wakefield’s Dallas office in its Global Data Center Advisory group. The report said they planned to continue working together, as they had at JLL.

What experience did the report attribute to them?

Bo Bond

The report described Bond as having more than 25 years of commercial real estate experience. It said he joined The Staubach Company in 1998 and stayed through its 2008 merger with JLL. It also attributed to him more than 30 million square feet of negotiated commercial real estate transactions in markets around the world. Those are career details reported in 2020, not updated employment or activity figures.

Ali Greenwood

Greenwood was reported to have spent nearly seven years at JLL and more than two years at Digital Realty before joining Cushman. Bond said the two had worked together for more than six years.

What work did the team expect to do?

For companies seeking data center capacity

Greenwood said a little over the majority of the team’s business involved end users looking for colocation space. She also cited hybrid colocation and cloud consulting. Bond described helping clients establish cloud on-ramps from data centers, right-size their inventories, address older contracts, and build flexibility across service lines.

For data center operators

Greenwood said the team would also help operators enter or expand markets. The work she described included finding land with access to space, power, and fiber; arranging sale-leasebacks; and identifying buildings that could be retrofitted.

How did Bond describe the team’s geographic focus?

Bond estimated that about 20 percent of the team’s work would focus on Dallas, with the other 80 percent global. He characterized the latter as “truly global.” These were his estimates of the team’s planned workload at the time, not independently measured market statistics.

What did Cushman say about the hires?

Dave Fanning, identified in the report as leader of Cushman’s Data Center Advisory Group, said: “The addition of Bo and Ali, with their dedicated focus to this market, further enables Cushman & Wakefield to keep pace with the market dynamics and better service our clients’ data center requirements.”

What the announcement does—and does not—establish

The report documents a hiring announcement and the roles, background, and intended scope of work described in 2020. It does not establish Bond’s or Greenwood’s current employer, title, or affiliation; the announcement should not be read as a present-day staffing update.
