What is ControlZ?
ControlZ sells renewed phones and tablets online in India. Its website identifies the seller as UNDO WORLD PVT LTD, based in Gurugram, Haryana, and lists contact details on its product page. The company advertises free tracked delivery across India in 3–10 days; check the live listing for delivery eligibility and timing to your PIN code.
The catalogue includes iPhones and iPads alongside Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus, Oppo and other Android devices. Stock, models and prices change. ControlZ uses its own labels, including Premium Renewed and Saver Series; Premium Renewed is not the same as Apple-certified refurbishment. The available information does not establish that “renewed,” “refurbished” and “open box” are consistent grades across sellers or listings. Confirm what a particular label means before paying.
ControlZ’s current product pages describe renewal steps such as automated functional checks, X-ray inspection, screen polishing and repair work. The company also advertises more than 300 quality checks on some pages. These are company claims, not independently verified quality results for every phone.

A large discount against a displayed “regular price” is not enough to judge value. Compare the exact model and storage with a new phone, a used marketplace listing and other organized refurbishers, including the differences in warranty, battery, parts disclosures and return terms. Current comparison prices and policies for alternatives such as Cashify and Amazon Renewed are not established here, so check them directly rather than assuming one seller is cheaper or better protected.

Before checkout, save the exact listing and written terms. Ask ControlZ to clarify the permitted cosmetic condition, parts history, battery policy, warranty duration, return or replacement window, claim process, shipping responsibility and exclusions. A long advertised warranty is useful only if its coverage and claim procedure fit the problem you might need to report.

What the independent hands-on review found—and did not
A November 2023 Gadgets To Use review bought and examined an iPhone 11 Pro and OnePlus 7. The reviewer found the iPhone nearly indistinguishable from new; the OnePlus had signs of earlier work on its back panel, though they were not immediately obvious. Both arrived appropriately packed with a screen protector applied. The box included a charger, cable and SIM-ejector tool, and the accessories for renewed devices were third-party.

The review also judged the iPhone 11 Pro somewhat expensive for a four-generation-old, 4G-only phone at the time. This small, historical sample is useful for understanding those two deliveries; it does not establish today’s catalogue-wide quality, long-term reliability, battery endurance, repair outcomes or current service performance.
Battery, replacement parts and “100% health”
ControlZ’s iPhone 15 Pro page says a new battery cell may be installed and explains that iOS can retain older battery-management data, so the displayed battery-health reading may vary. A 100% reading therefore is not proof of an original Apple battery, factory capacity, long-term performance equal to a new retail phone or absence of earlier battery work. Similarly, “OEM-grade” is the company’s description, not independent confirmation that a display is an original manufacturer part.

On arrival, check the following; menu wording can vary by iPhone model and iOS version:
- Open Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Record maximum capacity and any service warning.
- Open Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History, where available, and review any component information or warnings.
- Test wired and wireless charging if supported, then watch for unusual heat, rapid drain and poor standby performance.
- Record the battery screen and the phone’s serial number and IMEI before the return or replacement window expires.
How to inspect a ControlZ phone on delivery
Use the applicable return or replacement deadline as your inspection deadline. Do not wait for a fault to become obvious weeks later if the policy requires prompt reporting.

- Record one uninterrupted unboxing video. Photograph the shipping label, seals, box, device and displayed IMEI or serial number.
- Keep the packaging until the inspection and any applicable return or replacement period have ended.
- Save the invoice and screenshots of the listing, stated condition, product tier, warranty, price and included accessories.
Check physical condition
- Inspect the screen for scratches, dead pixels, burn-in, uneven brightness and touch areas that do not respond.
- Look over the frame and back for dents, bends, tool marks, loose buttons, cracks or misaligned cameras.
- Check camera lenses for cracks or dust, and the charging port for debris or looseness.
- Check the SIM tray and any accessible water-damage indicator. Do not open the phone to inspect it.
Test core functions and identity
- Test Face ID or fingerprint unlock, cameras and flash, microphones, speakers, vibration, proximity sensor and buttons.
- Test Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC where supported, mobile data, calls and 4G or 5G connectivity. Confirm SIM or eSIM activation for your carrier.
- Test charging and, where relevant, wireless charging, display brightness, True Tone where supported, and USB data transfer.
- Confirm Activation Lock is not enabled and the phone is not tied to another Apple or Google account.
- Match the device IMEI to the invoice and box where listed. Report any mismatch immediately.
If something differs from the listing or fails a test, send dated photos or video through the seller’s stated support channel before the applicable deadline. Keep a copy of the complaint and response.

How reliable is the warranty?
The current iPhone 15 Pro page advertises an 18-month Premium Renewed warranty and seven days for Saver Series. It also mentions coverage for functional and battery defects on the Premium Renewed offer. Those statements do not, by themselves, answer whether a specific defect is covered, how “seven days” works, or what repair, replacement or refund remedy applies. Read the live warranty and return terms for the exact listing before paying.
Do not rely on older warranty descriptions as current policy. The 2023 review reported 12-month warranties for Android phones, 18 months for iPhones, a website claim process, pickup and drop, an approximate one-week repair timeline and a seven-day replacement warranty. These are historical observations from that review, not verified current terms.
Check the live terms for these distinctions:
- Warranty length versus a return or replacement window.
- Repair coverage versus eligibility for refund or replacement.
- Battery and functional defects versus cosmetic marks.
- Exclusions for accidental or liquid damage, prior repairs or particular components.
- Who pays for shipping, how claims are opened and whether coverage follows the phone or only its original buyer.
A Trustpilot reviewer has alleged undisclosed repairs or replaced parts and confusion over Saver Series warranty coverage. When an older renewed phone is poor value
Judge the model’s remaining usefulness, not just its original flagship status. Older phones may lack 5G, have less software-support life ahead, and carry greater battery, camera, modem and repair risk. A four-generation-old flagship may be a poor deal if its price approaches that of a newer model. A newer midrange Android can be a better fit for battery life, charging or network support, even if an older premium phone has a stronger camera or processor.
Compare storage as well as condition: a low-capacity variant may become frustrating sooner or cost more to replace. If the renewed phone’s price gap against a new device is small, paying more for new hardware and a clearer service path may make more financial sense. Apple’s current lineup can be checked at Apple India; compare exact model, storage and current price rather than relying on a seller’s reference price.
Is buying renewed better for the environment?
Keeping an existing phone in use can avoid premature disposal and some of the impact of manufacturing a replacement. Renewal, replacement parts and shipping also have environmental costs, and the “renewed” label alone does not quantify net carbon savings. A March 2026 Daily Pioneer report, citing CCS Insight, estimated India’s organized refurbished-smartphone market at 5.7 million units in 2024 and described ControlZ as expanding its offline presence; those are attributed secondary-report figures, not a product-specific environmental assessment. Who should buy from ControlZ?
Consider Premium Renewed if
- The price is substantially below a comparable new phone after you compare actual checkout prices.
- The model has useful software-support life and suits your network, storage and camera needs.
- The exact warranty and return terms are clear before payment, and you can inspect the device promptly.
- You accept that replacement parts may not all be original and that a renewed phone can carry more repair and resale uncertainty than new hardware.
Be especially cautious with Saver Series if
- The listing does not clearly disclose its cosmetic condition, repair history or battery expectations.
- The seven-day term is not defined in writing as warranty, return or replacement coverage.
- You need predictable resale or trade-in value, guaranteed original parts, or a phone for business-critical use.
- You cannot test the device and report problems within the stated window.
ControlZ is best treated as a potentially good deal on a particular listing, not as a blanket endorsement of every phone or tier. The catalogue, prices and product terms change; decide from the exact device page and written policy you would be buying under.
