Quick answer: T-Mobile Better Value is a limited-time, premium postpaid plan aimed at households with at least three phone lines. T-Mobile advertises three lines for $140 per month with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees, but its current Broadband Facts disclosure lists $155 per month before AutoPay or other discounts. It can suit a family that qualifies and will use the hotspot, roaming and streaming benefits; it is not automatically cheaper than a discounted legacy plan or a basic prepaid option.
What is T-Mobile Better Value?
T-Mobile announced Better Value on January 7, 2026, with availability beginning January 14. It is a consumer postpaid plan positioned between simpler unlimited plans and T-Mobile’s highest-priced premium offers. The plan is designed primarily for families or small groups with three or more voice lines, rather than people shopping for one inexpensive line.
As of August 18, 2026, T-Mobile’s public pages still advertise Better Value as a limited-time offer. That does not guarantee it will appear for every account or remain available: some third-party coverage has reported that it was removed, while T-Mobile’s current public offer and support pages continue to describe it. Check your own eligibility and quote in T-Life, My T-Mobile, online checkout, or with T-Mobile support before changing service. T-Mobile’s launch announcement and current offer terms provide the official plan information.
What does Better Value cost?
The advertised $140 price is for three lines with qualifying AutoPay and excludes taxes and fees. T-Mobile’s current Broadband Facts disclosure gives a different reference point: the listed price before AutoPay or other discounts. These figures describe different pricing conditions, not an all-in bill.

The $140 three-line promotion works out to $46.67 per line before taxes and fees. Do not assume that the same promotional structure applies to four or more lines: get an account-specific quote from T-Mobile. The current public pricing and Broadband Facts are on T-Mobile’s plan comparison page; the launch offer is described at T-Mobile’s announcement.
T-Mobile’s Broadband Facts disclosure lists a provider monthly fee of $4.49 per line, in addition to federal and local surcharges that vary by location. Your invoice can also include government taxes, device payments, insurance, optional international passes, Netflix upgrades, Home Internet Backup, Apple TV, or device connection charges when lines are activated. Ask for a full monthly estimate that includes the payment method discount, location-based taxes and fees, and anything else on the order.
What perks are included?
Premium data and hotspot
The plan includes unlimited high-speed phone data and unlimited premium data, which is not deprioritized solely because of how much you have used. That does not eliminate congestion, coverage limits, or other network-management policies. Hotspot data is also described as unlimited, but only the first 250GB per month is high speed; after that, speeds are reduced to up to 600 kbps. That allowance may be useful for laptop work or a backup connection, but it is not unlimited high-speed tethering.
Canada, Mexico and international roaming
In Canada and Mexico, the plan includes data with up to 30GB per month at high speed; after that, speeds are reduced to up to 256 kbps. In more than 215 other countries and destinations, it includes unlimited text and data with up to 30GB of high-speed data, then speeds of up to 256 kbps. International voice calls, excluded destinations, device compatibility and roaming exceptions should be checked against the current terms before travel.

Streaming services
Netflix and Hulu with ads are included. This is not an ad-free streaming bundle: Netflix plan upgrades can cost extra, and Hulu is the ad-supported version. Apple TV is available for $3 per month, rather than being included at no charge. The included services have cash value only if your household would otherwise pay for them.
T-Satellite and phone upgrades
T-Satellite is included for compatible devices and satellite-optimized apps. It generally requires being outdoors with a view of the sky; availability, speed, latency, supported apps and emergency-message behavior can vary. Verify that your phone and software are supported before treating satellite connectivity as a deciding benefit. It is not a replacement for ordinary cellular coverage or home broadband.
T-Mobile also markets New in Two upgrade treatment and phone deals comparable to those offered to eligible new customers. A particular phone promotion can still depend on the model, trade-in, financing, account status and offer rules. Confirm the exact device cost and bill-credit terms rather than assuming a phone is free.
Price guarantee and other benefits
T-Mobile describes a five-year guarantee for the price of talk, text and data. It is not a guarantee that the entire invoice will stay unchanged: taxes, fees, device payments, add-ons and third-party services can change. The offer is limited-time, and eligibility conditions and current terms matter. The support materials also list Scam Shield Premium, AAA on Us for 12 months, T-Mobile in-flight connectivity, possible discounts on eligible tablet, watch, laptop and mobile-internet lines, and a $10-per-month Home Internet Backup option with AutoPay, plus taxes and fees. Check what is included for your specific account in the current offer terms.

Who can get Better Value?
New T-Mobile customers
Under T-Mobile’s consumer support criteria, new accounts generally need at least three voice lines and at least two eligible port-ins from postpaid carriers, completed within 30 days. A one- or two-line household, or a new customer who cannot meet the port-in conditions, should not assume the plan is selectable. Eligibility can depend on the offer and activation channel.
Existing T-Mobile customers
Existing postpaid customers generally need at least five years of account tenure and three or more voice lines, or enough added lines to reach the minimum. Qualified long-time customers may need an assisted channel, such as customer care or a retail representative, if the plan is not shown in self-service tools.
Accounts that may be excluded
T-Mobile’s support page lists business and government accounts, prepaid and no-credit-check accounts, existing postpaid accounts with less than five years of tenure, and new customers who do not port in two lines among the exclusions under its consumer criteria. Certain prepaid ports and recent T-Mobile win-back situations may also be ineligible. Review T-Mobile’s Better Value support documentation for the applicable terms; business accounts have separate documentation.
What could you lose by switching?
A new plan price is not the same as a lower household cost. T-Mobile says Better Value is not eligible for many existing service discounts, including free-line promotions, Hometown, Insider, MCSA and Work Perks discounts, as well as certain loyalty credits. Moving plans may also forfeit remaining loyalty credits. Compare the actual bill you pay now—not your old plan’s undiscounted rate—with the new quote.

A practical comparison is:
- Start with your current monthly bill, including existing discounts and credits.
- Add the value of perks you currently use and would have to replace.
- Subtract Better Value’s quoted service price, then add its taxes, fees and any add-ons you want.
- Compare the two totals, accounting for credits or free lines that would end if you switch.
If your current plan has a free line or large loyalty discount, losing it can outweigh the new plan’s bundled benefits. Ask T-Mobile to show the effect of a plan change on every line and recurring credit before accepting it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Better Value worth it for your household?
It may be a strong fit if you qualify for three or more lines and will actually use several of the premium features. It is less compelling when you are paying for benefits you rarely use or giving up valuable discounts.
| Household situation | What to weigh |
|---|---|
| Three-line family that already pays for streaming | Netflix and Hulu with ads may offset services you would otherwise buy, but count only subscriptions you actually replace. |
| Four- or five-line family with heavy hotspot use | The 250GB high-speed hotspot allowance is substantial; compare the full quoted bill and confirm the price for your line count. |
| International travelers | The included data can be useful, but high-speed allowances are limited and reduced speeds apply after they are used. |
| Existing T-Mobile customer with legacy credits | Compare the current discounted bill and identify any free lines or loyalty credits that would disappear. |
| Budget-focused household with modest data needs | A simpler plan may cost less if you do not need premium data, international roaming, streaming or high-speed hotspot. |
| Household focused mainly on a new phone | Compare the exact device promotion, trade-in, financing and plan requirements; a headline phone offer is not a guaranteed free device. |
Do not treat T-Mobile’s claim that the plan is cheaper than AT&T or Verizon as a universal comparison. A fair comparison depends on line count, AutoPay eligibility, taxes and fees, existing discounts, coverage at home and work, the services you would otherwise purchase, travel and phone promotions. Better Value can be less expensive than a premium plan with similar benefits without being the cheapest service available.
What are the alternatives?
T-Mobile Connect prepaid
For customers who mainly need domestic talk, text and a defined data allowance, T-Mobile Connect lists plans at $15 per month for 5GB, $25 for 8GB and $35 for 12GB. These are not substitutes for Better Value’s premium postpaid package: they do not include its 250GB high-speed hotspot allowance, international roaming bundle, streaming services, satellite features or five-year price guarantee. See T-Mobile Connect for current plan terms.
Other T-Mobile plans or your current plan
Compare Better Value with T-Mobile’s current Experience plans if you have fewer than three lines, want a different upgrade or streaming structure, or cannot meet the port-in requirement. If you already have a grandfathered plan, keeping it may be better when its taxes-included pricing, discounts, free lines or legacy benefits outweigh the new bundle. The current options are listed on T-Mobile’s plan page.
How to switch without a costly surprise
- Get a current, account-specific quote. Use T-Life, My T-Mobile, online checkout or customer care. Confirm the plan is actually available to your account and whether the quoted price includes AutoPay.
- Ask what changes on your account. Have T-Mobile identify every free-line promotion, loyalty credit, work discount and other recurring benefit that will end or change.
- Confirm all port-in requirements before moving numbers. For eligible new customers, the stated requirement is at least two eligible port-ins within 30 days. A successful number transfer does not by itself prove the number qualifies for the offer.
- Save the terms and order details. Keep the quoted service price, list of numbers ported, port completion dates, device promotion terms and order confirmation.
- Check the first bill. Compare the service charge, AutoPay discount, provider fee, location-based surcharges, device charges and add-ons with the quote. Contact T-Mobile promptly if an expected discount or credit is missing.
Failure to complete the required port-ins within the stated period can result in a move to another current rate plan, potentially at a higher cost. Do not cancel your old service or treat the advertised price as secured until the qualifying ports and plan are confirmed in your account.
