There is no verified best month to buy a DNA test across brands. As of October 8, 2026, Ancestry’s U.S. Fall Family Sale offers a useful dated price reference: its AncestryDNA kit is $34 before shipping, through October 20 at 10 a.m. ET. That does not establish whether Black Friday or another seasonal sale will be cheaper. Check the live offer and your final checkout total before deciding.

The kit-and-membership bundles are not directly comparable with a kit-only price: they include a subscription and may lead to recurring charges. Ancestry says these bundle offers are for new or returning subscribers, not current subscription renewals. Cancel at least two days before renewal to avoid the next charge. Should you wait for Black Friday?
Only if you are willing to accept uncertain savings. The official offers reviewed do not establish that Black Friday, DNA Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or any other recurring event is reliably the cheapest time across brands. They also do not show whether a 2026 holiday offer will beat the current Ancestry promotion.

If you need a kit now, compare the current offer with the total you would actually pay and buy when that total works for you. If you can wait, note today’s date and total, then compare it with the later offer when announced. Do not treat a future sale as a guaranteed saving or assume a crossed-out reference price is the usual price.

How to tell whether a DNA-test deal is good value
- Compare like with like. Check whether you are comparing a basic ancestry kit, a kit with traits or health features, or a kit bundled with a family-history membership. Those are different products. Ancestry bundle terms 23andMe service options

Where the sale calendar is uncertain
The available official information provides a dated Ancestry U.S. offer and directions for checking current MyHeritage and 23andMe prices. It does not establish a recurring cheapest month, a cross-brand annual sale pattern, or the lowest-ever price for any kit.
