PerthNow reported that the winery had ranked eighth in 2024; Cullen later announced an eighth-place result in the separate 2026 list. These are year-specific results, not a single current ranking.
Where did Cullen Wines rank in 2025?
Cullen Wines finished ninth in the 2025 ranking, according to reports by PerthNow and Time Out Australia. That put the Wilyabrup winery inside the top 10, but it did not make Cullen the list’s winner: Time Out identified Wine By Farr as number one.
The result belongs specifically to 2025. PerthNow reported Cullen was eighth in 2024, and Cullen announced an eighth-place finish in the 2026 list on 10 June 2026. The later announcement is a separate annual result, not a revision of the 2025 placement.
How The Real Review ranks its Top Wineries
The Real Review says its Top Wineries lists are produced by a proprietary algorithm that considers review rating, recency, availability, value and context across a two-year assessment period. It says wines are tasted and reviewed blind, and that the resulting lists are not manually sorted. The process is therefore a publication’s ranking based on its wine reviews, not a government designation or a universal measure of winery quality. The Real Review’s help page also says wineries must submit a qualifying range of latest-release wines and meet minimum review and weighted-rating criteria. It describes the annual certificate as recognition for a select group of wineries that consistently produce excellent wine.
What the 2025 list included
Time Out reported that The Real Review’s panel assessed more than 15,000 wines for its 2025 round-up. It described the list as covering more than 400 producers, or roughly 15 per cent of Australia’s approximately 2,700 producers. PerthNow separately reported that 414 producers received Top Wineries Certification. Those figures come from different reports and should not be treated as interchangeable counts.

Why the recognition mattered to Cullen
PerthNow quoted Cullen Wines Managing Director Vanya Cullen saying she was “incredibly honoured and humbled” to be included in the top 10, and that the winery was “waving the flag for Margaret River” and sustainability. She also welcomed the number of family-run wineries among the top-ranked producers.

Cullen operates a Biodynamic Wine Room at 4323 Caves Road, Wilyabrup WA 6280. Its official visitor information page describes counter tastings, private seated tastings and a guided garden walk paired with a tasting.
