What was included in the $319.99 deal?
MacRumors reported the Amazon offer on April 22, 2025. Blue and Yellow were reported at $319.99; Silver was listed at a slightly higher price. The offer covered the tablet only—not an Apple Pencil, keyboard, case, or screen protector. MacRumors’ deal report
Apple announced the model on March 4, 2025, and made it available starting March 12. Its U.S. launch prices were $349 for Wi‑Fi and $499 for Wi‑Fi + Cellular. The cellular version was not the one in the Amazon deal. Apple’s launch announcement

Was $319.99 really a record low?
MacRumors called it the lowest price it had tracked for the model at the time. That is narrower than saying it was the lowest price at every retailer. In the discussion attached to the report, forum users said they had bought the iPad at Micro Center for $314.99. Those comments are not a comprehensive price history, but they make “MacRumors-tracked low” or “one of the lowest reported prices” more precise than an unqualified all-retailer record claim. What changed from the previous entry-level iPad?
The A16 replaced the previous model’s processor, and the base storage increased from 64GB to 128GB. Apple also offers 256GB and 512GB capacities. MacRumors described the external design as broadly unchanged from the 10th-generation model. The added base storage makes the entry configuration more practical, but it does not remove the need to choose capacity based on how you use a tablet. MacRumors’ deal report · Apple’s specifications

Is 128GB enough?
For browsing, email, streaming, reading, schoolwork, video calls, and a modest selection of apps and games, 128GB is a reasonable starting point. But the advertised capacity is shared by iPadOS, apps, photos, downloaded files, and offline media; no precise usable-storage figure is established here.

- Consider 256GB if you expect to keep the tablet for years, install a large game library, store many photos, or download video for travel.
- Consider 512GB if you know you need substantial local storage. The deal report listed other discounted configurations, but those prices were also historical: 512GB Wi‑Fi at $609, down from $649, and 512GB cellular at $750, down from $799.

Who was the deal a good fit for?
At $319.99, the 128GB Wi‑Fi configuration made sense for someone who wanted a new iPad for general tablet use and did not need cellular service or specialist hardware. It could suit students, families, casual users, and people replacing a much older iPad for browsing, streaming, notes, schoolwork, casual games, or video calls. That assessment follows from the listed specifications and the move to 128GB base storage; it is not a claim about benchmark performance.

Wi‑Fi is sufficient if you will usually connect at home, school, work, or a phone hotspot. If you need the iPad to connect directly to mobile networks, look at a cellular configuration instead and account for the added device cost and any carrier plan or eSIM activation.

What accessories add to the cost?
The $319.99 deal was for the iPad alone. Apple’s March 2025 launch announcement gave U.S. launch prices of $79 for Apple Pencil (USB-C) and $249 for Magic Keyboard Folio; it also listed a $229 education price for the keyboard. These are launch-date price signals, not verified current prices. Apple’s launch announcement

- Striking 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone - Go far with all-day battery life
- A14 Bionic chip with 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU - Wi-Fi 6 and 5G cellular models available

- USB-C connector for charging and accessories - Works with Apple Pencil (1st gen) and Magic Keyboard Folio
If you need a stylus, the USB-C Pencil offers a direct option; the first-generation Pencil is compatible but requires the adapter. If you plan to buy the Magic Keyboard Folio, remember that pairing it with the historical $319.99 tablet price would have put those two items at $568.99 before tax, not counting any other accessories. At that combined cost, compare what a laptop or higher-tier iPad would give you for your specific work.
Bottom line: how to judge the old offer
The April 22, 2025 Amazon offer was a worthwhile discount for a buyer who wanted a new 128GB Wi‑Fi iPad: it cut $29.01 from the $349 launch price while offering twice the previous model’s base storage. It was not a verified current deal, and “record low” should be attributed to MacRumors’ price tracking rather than treated as a universal retailer record. Buy only if the live price, exact configuration, seller, condition, and accessories make sense for your budget and needs.
