The replacement 80GB plan was $54 per month after the same discount—$1 less than its predecessor—but also lost those calls. These were changes to public offers, not proof that every existing customer’s account changed.
Current-status note: These are historical April 2025 prices and plan details. Fido’s website, viewed in August 2026, promotes a different lineup, including Canada-wide 5G plans. Check Fido’s current plans for today’s offers.
What changed in Fido’s 60GB and 80GB offers?
MobileSyrup reported on April 8, 2025, that Fido had ended its previous $39/60GB and $55/80GB offers early, on April 7 rather than the previously posted April 14 end date. The replacement offers changed the effective prices and removed included international long-distance calling. The prices below are monthly and before tax.

Source for the reported offer details: MobileSyrup, April 8, 2025. The $44 and $54 figures already account for the $10 automatic-payments discount; they are not the prices before that condition. If financing a phone, the reported $10 monthly surcharge would put the discounted plan-and-financing amounts at $54 for 60GB or $64 for 80GB, before tax.

How much did the prices change?
Compared with the preceding public offers, the replacement 60GB plan cost $5 more per month at the advertised discounted price: $60 more over 12 months before tax if the discount remained in place. The 80GB plan cost $1 less per month, or $12 less over 12 months, on the same basis. Those comparisons concern the reported offers; they do not establish what any individual customer was charged.
The automatic-payments discount matters to the total. The reported pre-discount prices were $54 for 60GB and $64 for 80GB, each $10 above its discounted figure. A customer considering a plan should verify the discount’s eligibility and terms rather than budget only for the lower advertised amount.

Which international calls were removed?
The removed feature covered calls placed from Canada to the following destinations:
- United States
- Bangladesh
- China
- Hong Kong
- India
- Mexico
- United Kingdom
The 2025 report described China and Hong Kong; that wording should not be taken to include Macau or Taiwan. Calls to the listed destinations were no longer included in the replacement plans. That did not mean international calls became impossible: customers could use an eligible add-on or pay the applicable long-distance rate.

What did the plans still include?
According to MobileSyrup’s April 2025 report, the replacement plans retained unlimited Canada-wide calling and unlimited international texting sent from Canada. They also included unlimited incoming texts, picture and video messaging, voicemail, and call display. The reported plans offered 4G data with speeds capped at up to 150Mbps.
International texting is not international calling. Nor does texting from Canada establish that texts sent while abroad are free. The reported 4G plans are historical specifications: Fido’s website viewed in August 2026 promotes Canada-wide 5G plans and advertises speeds up to 1Gbps. Current plan features vary; consult Fido’s current plan page.

Does the change affect existing Fido customers?
The report concerned replacement offers appearing on Fido’s website; it does not establish that Fido automatically moved every existing subscriber to the new plans or removed a feature from every account. Existing customers may have different plan terms, promotional credits, or grandfathered features.
Check your account’s plan details and latest bill before changing anything. Look for the plan name, monthly recurring charges, discounts and their expiry or eligibility terms, device-financing charges, and any international calling feature. If the account wording is unclear, ask Fido to confirm whether your plan includes calls from Canada to your destinations and whether changing plans would remove a credit or feature.

International calling, texting and roaming are different
- International long-distance calling: Calling a foreign number while you are in Canada. This is the feature removed from the replacement offers for the seven destinations above.
- International texting: Sending a text from Canada to a foreign number. The reported replacement plans retained this feature.
- Roaming: Using your phone while physically outside Canada. A plan that includes calls from Canada to the U.K. does not, by itself, include service while you are in the U.K.
- Canada-U.S. or other roaming coverage: A separate plan feature. Do not infer roaming access from an international long-distance calling benefit.
Can a Fido add-on replace the removed calls?
Fido’s add-ons page, viewed in August 2026, lists Worldwide Combo at $2 per month. It includes unlimited calling from Canada to the U.S., Bangladesh, China/Hong Kong, India, Mexico, and the U.K., plus unlimited international texting. Check the current add-on terms before subscribing; this current offer is not evidence that the old plans’ included feature was restored, and the listed destinations do not include Macau or Taiwan.
For someone who otherwise wants to keep Fido and calls covered destinations, compare the add-on’s current cost and terms with the long-distance charges or plan alternatives available to them. If the need is service while travelling abroad, a calling add-on is not a substitute for roaming; Fido advertises travel passes for more than 180 destinations, with 30-day passes starting at $3 per day on its current site.
Should you stay with Fido or compare other plans?
Decide using your actual bill and usage rather than the headline data amount alone. Compare the effective monthly price after conditions, the price before discounts, any phone-financing charge, network and speed, hotspot and roaming terms, international calling, and coverage where you live and travel.
Staying may suit you if
- You are satisfied with Fido coverage in the places you use your phone.
- Most of your calls are within Canada, or the current Worldwide Combo terms cover your international calling needs.
- You value Fido’s postpaid account or device-financing options, or have a retention, multi-line, or bundled offer that improves your actual price.
Comparing or switching may suit you if
- You regularly call one of the affected destinations and another suitable plan includes those calls at a better total cost.
- You want 5G, a different speed or hotspot arrangement, or more data for the price.
- You need U.S. or Mexico roaming included and would otherwise have to pay separately.
- You are considering a new activation and do not have a Fido-specific discount that changes the comparison.
Do not treat competitor prices reported in April 2025 as current offers. Check the carriers’ official pages—such as Freedom Mobile and Public Mobile—for available plans and terms in your region. Availability, coverage, and promotions can vary; verify local coverage and the full price before switching.
