No new claims are being accepted. The deadline to file in the $95 million Apple Siri privacy settlement was July 2, 2025, and payment distribution began January 23, 2026. If you filed a claim, you can check its payment status or see whether a reissue is available through the settlement administrator. The settlement covered qualifying claims involving several Siri-enabled Apple devices, not just iPhones.

What is the current status of the Siri settlement?

The claim period in Lopez et al. v. Apple Inc., Case No. 4:19-cv-04577-JSW, has closed. The official settlement site says payments began going out on January 23, 2026. The administrator’s site is now the place for existing claimants to check payment information or pursue an available reissue; the original claim form is not an open route for new claims.

For a payment question, go directly to the official settlement website. Claimants who did not receive or claim a payment before its expiration or void date can review the payment-reissue page. It asks for the claimant’s ID and confirmation code.

What did the lawsuit allege?

The case was brought in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Plaintiffs alleged that Siri sometimes activated unintentionally and that confidential or private communications were obtained by Apple or shared with third parties. “Siri spying” is shorthand for those allegations, not a finding that Apple spied on users.

Apple iPhone 14, 128GB, Midnight - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Apple denied the allegations and denied doing anything improper or unlawful. The case ended in a negotiated settlement, not a trial verdict establishing liability. The settlement was not an admission of wrongdoing. The official settlement FAQs explain the parties’ positions.

Who was included in the settlement class?

In general, the class covered individuals in the United States or its territories who owned or purchased a qualifying Siri-enabled device during the class period, September 17, 2014, through December 31, 2024. To qualify, a person also had to allege that Siri was enabled and had activated unintentionally during a conversation intended to be private or confidential.

  • Unlocked for freedom to choose your carrier. Compatible with both GSM & CDMA networks. The phone is unlocked to work with all GSM Carriers & CDMA Carriers Including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint., Etc.

The products named in the settlement included:

  • iPhone and iPad
  • Apple Watch
  • MacBook and iMac
  • HomePod
  • iPod touch
  • Apple TV

Simply owning an iPhone or using Siri was not enough under the stated eligibility criteria. Former owners could qualify; current ownership was not required. The settlement materials describe sworn confirmations on the claim form, but do not establish that every claimant was categorically exempt from providing supporting documentation. See the settlement class definition and FAQs for the terms.

How much could a claimant receive?

Apple agreed to fund a $95 million settlement. That figure is the total fund, not the amount paid to each person. The plan allowed a pro rata payment of up to $20 per qualifying device, for no more than five devices per claimant. The per-device amount was a cap, not a guaranteed payment.

  • Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detection. Roadside Assistance via satellite
  • Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID

Actual payments depended on the number of valid claims and devices, as well as deductions from the fund for administration, notice, taxes, attorneys’ fees and expenses, and representative service awards. The official materials establish the cap but do not establish a single guaranteed final payment for every claimant. Details are in the settlement FAQs and the settlement filing.

How did the original claims process work?

The claim period is over, but the original process helps explain what claimants attested to and why an existing claim may require identifying codes.

  • This pre-owned product is not Apple certified, but has been professionally inspected, tested and cleaned by Amazon-qualified suppliers.
  • There will be no visible cosmetic imperfections when held at an arm’s length.
  • This product is eligible for a replacement or refund within 90 days of receipt if you are not satisfied.
  • Product may come in generic Box.
  1. Confirm eligibility: The claimant had to affirm that they owned or purchased a qualifying Siri device in the United States or its territories, had Siri enabled, and experienced an unintended activation during a private or confidential conversation.
  2. Identify devices: A claimant could list up to five qualifying devices—not five claims for each incident.
  3. Submit the form by the deadline: The form required confirmation or updating of contact details and an attestation under oath. People who received a settlement notice could use the Claimant Identification Code and Confirmation Code supplied with it. People who believed they qualified but had not received codes could submit through the site while claims were open.

The deadline was July 2, 2025. The settlement’s claim page is not a basis to assume new claims are being accepted.

What should you do if you filed but have not received payment?

Payments could be sent as physical checks, ACH/direct deposits, or digital checks delivered by email. Distribution began January 23, 2026, but that does not mean every claimant necessarily received or claimed a payment.

To reduce the risk of phishing, navigate to the settlement domain yourself rather than following an unsolicited payment link. Do not pay someone to submit a claim or request a reissue, and do not provide banking information in response to an unexpected message.

What happened to the settlement, and what rights did it affect?

The settlement site’s current documents index lists a final approval hearing on August 22, 2025, along with final approval, amended final approval, final judgment, fee-order, notice-of-appeal, and notice-of-dismissal documents. The FAQ has an older reference to an August 1, 2025 hearing; the current documents index is the more appropriate reference for the procedural record. The official documents page provides the filings.

People who remained in the class and accepted payment released covered claims against Apple relating to the lawsuit. According to the settlement FAQ, people who did nothing generally received no payment but were still bound by the settlement and released covered claims. Opting out was the way to preserve the possibility of pursuing an individual case over covered claims, but the opt-out deadline was also July 2, 2025. An objection challenged the settlement; it was not the same as opting out. Those deadlines have passed. See the FAQ sections on releases, opt-outs and objections.

Do not confuse this case with another Apple settlement

The $95 million case concerns alleged unintended Siri activations and privacy violations. It is separate from a different 2026 Apple settlement concerning alleged delays or misrepresentations about Apple Intelligence and Siri features. The latter is reported as a $250 million settlement and is not this Siri privacy case. Associated Press coverage discusses that separate matter.
