In reporting published July 15, 2024, Bloomberg described how Paul and Rachelle Baron said Amazon resold a returned, used washable swim diaper from their business, Beau & Belle Littles. A customer who received it posted a sharply negative review. The couple said the episode severely hurt their business, though the available reporting does not quantify the damage or establish that the review alone caused the business to fail.
What happened to Beau & Belle Littles?
Paul and Rachelle Baron built Beau & Belle Littles around a washable swim diaper they designed for their infant son. Bloomberg reported that the product had been selling on Amazon before a returned diaper was put back into circulation and delivered to a customer. That customer then posted a negative review. Bloomberg’s July 15, 2024 report is the primary account cited here.
Futurism’s July 16, 2024 coverage, which attributes its account to Bloomberg, says the incident occurred in 2020 and that the review remained despite the Barons’ efforts to have it removed. Futurism reported that the review disappeared shortly after Bloomberg published its story.
What did Amazon say?
Amazon spokesperson Chris Oster told Bloomberg: “We have removed the negative review in question and are investigating why it was not removed previously.” The statement confirms Amazon’s response to the review dispute; it does not establish the precise effect the review had on the company’s sales or finances.

Did the review destroy the business?
“Destroyed” is the framing in the original headline, not an independently established finding in the reporting available here. The couple described the effect on their business as severe. Paul Baron told Bloomberg, “The last four years have been an emotional train wreck,” as quoted by Futurism. The reports do not provide a quantified financial loss or prove that this single review, by itself, caused the business to fail.
