Circle Pharma announced the close of a $90 million Series D on September 3, 2024. The company said it would use the proceeds to fund clinical development of CID-078 and support drug-discovery programs built with its MXMO platform. The round was led by The Column Group, with Nextech Invest and Euclidean Capital participating. The Series D is no longer the company’s latest financing: Circle Pharma announced a $92.5 million Series E in September 2026.
What the Series D financed
Circle Pharma said the 2024 financing, which included conversion of a convertible note, would support two areas:
- CID-078: clinical development of the company-described first-in-class cyclin A/B RxL inhibitor.
- MXMO discovery programs: research programs using the company’s macrocycle platform.
The announcement did not break down how much of the $90 million was allocated to either area. The figure and stated uses are company-reported, not an independently audited allocation. Circle Pharma’s September 3, 2024 announcement
What Circle Pharma means by its MXMO platform
Circle Pharma describes MXMO as a combination of structure-based rational drug design and synthetic chemistry intended to produce cell-permeable macrocycles for challenging targets. The company says candidates developed with the platform can be designed for multiple delivery routes, including oral administration. These are descriptions of the company’s approach; the financing announcement does not establish comparative performance or clinical benefit.

How the Series D fits the later financing
On September 16, 2026, Circle Pharma announced an oversubscribed $92.5 million Series E. The company said the financing would advance CID-165 through early clinical development and continue support for its broader cyclin-targeted pipeline. The two rounds and their stated priorities are distinct:

CID-078 and CID-165 are different programs
The Series D announcement named CID-078, which Circle Pharma characterized as a cyclin A/B RxL inhibitor. The later Series E announcement described CID-165 as an orally bioavailable macrocyclic cyclin D1 RxL inhibitor and reported preclinical activity in cyclin D1-driven cancer models, including in combinations with specified therapies.
Circle Pharma said it expected CID-165 to enter clinical development in Q1 2027. That was a forecast in the 2026 announcement, not confirmation that clinical development had begun. The announcement reports preclinical findings, not human efficacy or safety results.

What these financings do—and do not—show
The announcements establish the amounts Circle Pharma reported raising and the uses it said it intended to pursue. They do not establish that either candidate is approved, commercially available, or proven effective in patients. Nor do they provide a detailed spending breakdown, trial outcomes, or independent evidence that the platform delivers better results than alternatives.
