10 best web hosting providers in 2026

Hostinger is a strong value choice for most new websites, while DreamHost, SiteGround, InMotion, and managed WordPress hosts suit different budgets and needs. Compare upfront commitment, renewal prices, and included services before choosing.

For most new websites, Hostinger offers the strongest overall value, while DreamHost is a good option if you prioritize visible renewal terms. The right choice depends on your budget, site needs, and willingness to prepay: compare the total charged today with the renewal price, not just the advertised monthly equivalent.

Web hosting is a recurring business expense, but the cheapest-looking plan is not always the cheapest one to own. A $2.99 promotional rate may require four years paid upfront, while a plan that costs $4.99 today may renew at $17.99 per month. Email, domain renewals, backup limits, visitor allowances, and migration fees can also change the real cost.

The providers below are ranked by a combination of price, renewal transparency, included features, support, performance tools, and suitability for different types of website owners. Prices are US-dollar public prices verified on August 8, 2026. Promotions can vary by location, billing term, tax, and checkout status.

What to compare before choosing a web host

Do not compare hosting plans using the advertised monthly figure alone. Check three numbers:

TP-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 Router (Archer AX21 V5)
  • DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
  • AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
  • CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
  • EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
  • OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
  1. Amount charged today: the promotional monthly rate multiplied by the full prepaid term.
  2. Renewal price: what the plan costs after the introductory period.
  3. Included services: especially email, backups, domain registration, storage, and migration support.

For example, Hostinger’s $2.99 Premium price requires 48 months paid upfront, or $143.52. It renews at $10.99 per month. DreamHost’s $1.99 Launch offer also requires the first four years to be prepaid. Neither is a month-to-month price.

“Unlimited” also needs context. Shared hosts still apply CPU, RAM, inode, database, file-type, fair-use, or acceptable-use limits. Likewise, a provider’s monthly visitor estimate is not a guaranteed traffic ceiling or a substitute for a formal service-level agreement.

1. Hostinger: best overall value

Hostinger offers one of the strongest feature-to-price combinations for a blog, portfolio, side business, or first online store. Its Premium plan costs $2.99 per month when paid for 48 months, billed upfront at $143.52. It includes three websites, 20 GB SSD storage, a free domain for one year, weekly backups, a CDN, integrated ecommerce tools, AI tools, and two mailboxes per website free for one year. The renewal price is $10.99 per month.

The Business or “Unlimited” tier costs $3.79 per month for 48 months and renews at $16.99 per month. It supports unlimited websites, 50 GB NVMe storage, daily backups, and unlimited mailboxes per website free for one year. Cloud Startup costs $7.99 per month for 48 months and renews at $25.99 per month. Hostinger lists unlimited websites, 100 GB NVMe storage, and daily plus on-demand backups for Cloud Startup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best fit: someone who wants low initial cost and several useful features without buying separate backup, CDN, or ecommerce products.

Watch out for: the low rates require a four-year commitment, and “unlimited” remains subject to Hostinger’s Fair Usage Policy.

2. SiteGround: best for support and managed WordPress features

SiteGround’s StartUp plan costs $2.99 per month when prepaid for 12 months, then renews at $17.99 per month. It supports one website, includes 10 GB of storage, and SiteGround estimates it is suitable for approximately 10,000 monthly visits. GrowBig costs $4.99 per month initially and renews at $29.99; it supports unlimited websites, 50 GB of storage, and an estimated 100,000 monthly visits. GoGeek costs $7.99 initially and renews at $44.99.

All three plans include free SSL, CDN, automatic backups, security tools, email, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. GoGeek also receives priority assignment for support chats and tickets.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best fit: a WordPress owner who values guided support and managed features more than the lowest long-term price.

Watch out for: these are still shared plans. CPU, RAM, inode, database, and fair-use limits apply even where traffic or bandwidth is described as unmetered.

3. Bluehost: best for straightforward WordPress setup

Bluehost is convenient for beginners who want to register a domain, install WordPress, and manage hosting from one account. Its current public plans include Starter at $4.99 per month for one website and 10 GB of NVMe storage; Business at $7.99 for up to 50 sites and 50 GB; and High Performance at $10.99 for up to 100 sites and 100 GB.

DreamHost’s current new-customer shared plans are Launch, Growth, and Scale. The older Shared Starter and Shared Unlimited plans remain relevant to some existing customers but are not the current new-purchase options.

Launch costs $1.99 per month for the first four years, renews at $7.99, and includes 25 websites, 25 GB of NVMe storage, and a stated 40,000 monthly-visit level. 5. Namecheap: best for low-cost hosting bundled with domains

Namecheap’s shared plans are Stellar, Stellar Plus, and Stellar Business. Promotional first-year prices are approximately $2.28, $2.98, and $4.98 per month respectively when paid annually.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Namecheap changed the renewal prices on May 19, 2026. Stellar renews at $5.88 per month, or $55.88 annually; Stellar Plus at $7.88 per month, or $85.44 annually; and Stellar Business at $11.88 per month, or $128.88 annually. Stellar supports up to three domain names, while Stellar Plus and Stellar Business support unlimited domain names.

6. InMotion Hosting: best for small-business shared hosting

InMotion’s Launch, Power, and Pro shared plans are practical choices for small businesses that need email, cPanel, migration help, and human support. Launch costs $4.79 per month on a one-year term, $4.99 on longer terms, or $16.99 month to month. The longer-term offer shows a $13.99 monthly renewal. Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

All shared plans include a free domain, SSL, email, site migration, cPanel, and a stated 99.99% uptime target. InMotion advertises 24/7 human support and a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Best fit: a small business that would rather pay somewhat more for cPanel, migration assistance, and human support.

Watch out for: cPanel is included with the advertised shared plans, but separate cPanel licensing can apply to some VPS and dedicated products.

7. HostGator: best for conventional cPanel shared hosting

HostGator’s current shared plans are Hatchling, Baby, and Business. Introductory prices are $2.75, $3.95, and $5.95 per month. On a three-year term, HostGator’s regular-price chart lists renewals of $10.99, $16.49, and $21.99 per month.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Hatchling supports one website. HostGator’s current help documentation says Baby supports up to 20 websites and Business up to 50. Plans include free SSL, WordPress and cPanel migration, unmetered bandwidth, and a free domain on qualifying 12-, 24-, or 36-month terms.

Best fit: someone who specifically wants a familiar cPanel-based shared-hosting setup.

Watch out for: older articles claiming every plan has unlimited websites are inaccurate. The current plan limits are materially different.

8. Hosting.com: best current alternative to legacy A2 Hosting

A2 Hosting’s current shared-hosting comparison directs customers to Hosting.com. Existing A2 customers are being moved to the consolidated Hosting.com platform, with existing services and pricing stated to continue unchanged until the applicable renewal.

9. WP Engine: best managed WordPress hosting for professional sites

WP Engine hosts WordPress sites only. It is not general-purpose hosting for arbitrary PHP applications, Node.js projects, or static sites.

Following a 2026 pricing update, its plans renew at $17 per month for Lite, $35 for Startup, $65 for Professional, $130 for Growth, and $330 for Scale. Startup includes one site, 25,000 monthly visits, 10 GB of storage, and 50 GB of monthly bandwidth.

The platform includes managed WordPress, PHP and MySQL updates, CDN, daily and on-demand backups, SSL, staging environments, and 24/7 support. WP Engine charges $2 per 1,000 visitors above the monthly visitor allowance on applicable plans, although it says traffic spikes are not automatically throttled or cut off.

Best fit: a business that earns enough from its website to justify managed updates, staging, security, and WordPress-specific support.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Watch out for: visitor overages can create an unexpected bill. Estimate traffic before selecting a plan.

10. Kinsta: best premium managed WordPress hosting

Kinsta is another premium WordPress-only provider. Its entry-level plan is named Single 20GB and costs $35 per month when billed monthly, or $30 per month equivalent when billed annually, with $350 charged for the year. The displayed offer includes the first month free.

The plan includes one WordPress installation, 10 GB of storage, 20 GB of server bandwidth, 125 GB of CDN bandwidth, unlimited free migrations, and 14-day backup retention. Kinsta also includes a managed web application firewall with DDoS protection, continuous MySQL optimization, free SSL, daily backups, staging, and expert support.

Kinsta’s plans use monthly visits or server bandwidth as billing metrics, depending on the pricing option selected. Business plans begin at $35 per month, while agency plans begin at $340 per month, or $284 per month when billed annually.

How to choose the cheapest hosting over time

For a personal blog, calculate the first-year and second-year cost separately. A plan with a $2.99 introductory rate may become more expensive than a $4.99 plan after renewal. For a business, also price domain renewal, professional email, backups, premium themes, migration, and possible traffic overages.

  1. Decide whether you need WordPress. If yes, ordinary shared hosting may be sufficient for a small site; WP Engine and Kinsta are for owners who want WordPress maintenance managed for them.
  2. Count websites. Buying a multi-site plan can be cheaper than separate accounts, but it also puts several sites under the same hosting account and resource limits.
  3. Check storage and traffic. A photography site, online store, or membership site can outgrow a basic plan faster than a text-based blog.
  4. Confirm email terms. Hostinger’s included mailboxes are free for one year, while DreamHost’s included email is free for three months on new Web Hosting plans.
  5. Save the renewal price. Put the renewal date and expected charge in your budget or calendar before the initial term expires.

Are 99.99% uptime claims meaningful?

InMotion Hosting states a 99.99% uptime target, but that is a provider target, not a guarantee that every page will load perfectly. Uptime claims may exclude scheduled maintenance, DNS problems, third-party outages, application errors, broken plugins, and customer configuration mistakes. If a website is financially important, read the provider’s actual service-level terms and maintain independent backups rather than relying solely on a marketing percentage.

FAQ

What is the best web hosting provider for most beginners in 2026?

Hostinger is the strongest value choice for many beginners because its lower-tier plans include a domain for one year, backups, CDN features, email for a limited period, and tools for WordPress and ecommerce. DreamHost is worth considering if transparent monthly billing and renewal pricing matter more than the lowest prepaid promotion.

Is the cheapest web hosting price really monthly?

Usually, the advertised figure is a monthly equivalent for a prepaid term. Hostinger’s $2.99 price requires 48 months paid upfront, while DreamHost’s $1.99 Launch price requires four years. Check the total charged today and the renewal rate before buying.

Which web host is best for a small business?

InMotion Hosting is a practical small-business choice because shared plans include email, cPanel, site migration, SSL, a free domain, 24/7 human support, and a 90-day money-back guarantee. SiteGround, Bluehost, and managed WordPress providers may be better depending on support and technical requirements.

Should I use WP Engine or Kinsta instead of shared hosting?

Use WP Engine or Kinsta when the site is WordPress-only and managed updates, staging, security, backups, and specialist support justify the higher price. A small personal site or early-stage blog will usually cost less on shared hosting.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Hostinger is the best overall value for most new websites, provided you understand the four-year upfront commitment and renewal price. DreamHost is the clearest option for buyers who want monthly billing and visible auto-renewal terms. SiteGround suits users who prioritize support, while InMotion Hosting is a sensible small-business option with cPanel and migration help.

For a professional WordPress site where downtime, maintenance, or security work has a meaningful financial cost, WP Engine or Kinsta can justify their higher prices. Whichever provider you choose, budget for renewal—not just the promotional rate—and treat “unlimited” claims as subject to the host’s resource and fair-use policies.
