Deep Blue Aerospace reported selling two tickets for a planned 12-minute suborbital ride at $210,000 apiece during a 20-minute Taobao livestream in October 2024. The sale made headlines for its price, but it did not mean the service was operating: the company’s rocket remained in development, and reporting later noted a recovery-test anomaly and no public maiden-flight report by August 30, 2026.
What Deep Blue Aerospace sold in 2024
Futurism reported on October 29, 2024, that China’s Deep Blue Aerospace sold two tickets in a Taobao livestream that lasted 20 minutes. Each ticket was announced at $210,000. China Daily reported the price as about 1.5 million yuan per passenger; those were contemporaneous reported equivalents, not current currency conversions.
The proposed experience was a 12-minute suborbital trip to the edge of space. Futurism said flights could begin as soon as 2027, a forward-looking estimate made in 2024—not a verified current schedule. The reported sale establishes that two tickets were offered and sold then; it does not show that more tickets are available now.
Why the price stood out—and what the comparison does not prove
Futurism characterized Deep Blue’s announced $210,000 fare as a fraction of Virgin Galactic’s then-reported $600,000 price for a similar flight. That is a dated comparison from 2024, not a current market survey or proof that the offers had identical flight experiences, booking terms, or availability. The same report said Blue Origin pricing was rumored to exceed twice Deep Blue’s price; that figure was explicitly unconfirmed and should not be treated as an established fare.

For a meaningful comparison, separate the advertised price from a confirmed booking price, and compare the planned experience, actual ticket availability, vehicle test status, and whether a flight date is a target or a completed milestone. The reported figures do not establish directly comparable current offers across providers.
The rocket and passenger service were still developmental
Deep Blue’s proposed passenger vehicle is associated with its Nebula-1 development program. Futurism and China Daily reported an anomaly during the landing phase of a high-altitude vertical takeoff and landing recovery test. That is evidence of a development setback, not evidence that a passenger flight took place.

A secondary profile updated August 30, 2026, summarized multiple changes to Nebula-1’s maiden-flight window and said it found no public report of a maiden flight by that date. That profile does not establish the company’s current schedule. The sources reviewed do not verify a completed passenger flight, a current launch date, or current ticket availability.
Capacity and reuse are company claims, not proven results
Futurism reported Deep Blue’s proposed crew module could carry up to six passengers and the company claimed the vehicle could be reused as many as 50 times. These are design and company claims, not demonstrated commercial-flight capabilities. The reported figures should not be read as proof of an operational service or a proven safety record.
