It paired a lemon-herb-marinated boneless chicken breast, grilled for a smoky flavor, with a toasted maple-flavored brioche bun. Toppings included Pepper Jack cheese, green leaf lettuce, applewood-smoked bacon tossed in a brown-sugar-and-pepper blend, and sweet-and-spicy pickles. How did it go from a test to a nationwide menu item?
Chick-fil-A tested the sandwich in Indianapolis and Lexington, Kentucky, in 2023, according to a company story about its creator, Chef Christy Cook. The following year, Chick-fil-A announced the limited-time nationwide launch. Director of menu and packaging Allison Duncan described it as “a delicious spin on the Chick-fil-A flavors our Guests know and love.” Those remarks are the company’s description, not independent taste-test findings.
