Community Gaming announced an oversubscribed $16 million Series A on April 7, 2022, led by SoftBank Group through its SB Opportunity Fund. The company said it would use the funding to expand internationally, with a focus on Latin America and Southeast Asia, and to develop its platform and planned Quest rewards. Those were intentions announced in 2022, not evidence that the investment later produced a particular result.
What Community Gaming announced in 2022
Community Gaming’s April 7, 2022 announcement said the Series A was led by SoftBank Group through the SB Opportunity Fund. It named Animoca Brands, Binance Labs, BITKRAFT Ventures and Griffin Gaming Partners among the participating investors, alongside additional investors and angel investors. The company described the round as oversubscribed. Community Gaming’s announcement and GamesBeat’s coverage reported the round and its planned expansion.
Where the company said the money would go
Community Gaming said the proceeds would support its “Earnings for Everyone” platform offering and global expansion, specifically naming Latin America and Southeast Asia as focus regions. The announcement set out a plan; it does not establish how much funding went to each purpose or document the results of expansion in either region.
What the planned reward system was meant to do
At the time of the raise, the company described a planned platform update featuring gamified “Quests.” The idea was to reward actions and time spent on the platform, extending rewards beyond players who win tournaments. CEO Chris Gonsalves framed the goal as supporting systems that reward “action and time” and give people ways to seek supplemental income through gaming. That was the company’s rationale for the feature, not a promise of income or a claim about what an individual player would earn.

How Community Gaming describes Quests and payouts now
Community Gaming’s current help center describes daily, weekly and monthly Quest objectives through which users can earn tokens. It also says tournament payouts are made after an event and that prize pools are managed through blockchain-based smart contracts before rewards are sent to linked wallets. These are the company’s descriptions of its service; token rewards and tournament prizes are not guaranteed income. See the Community Gaming help center for its current explanations.
The Quest concept announced in 2022 and the current help-center description are related, but they should not be conflated: the announcement described a planned expansion of rewards, while the help center describes mechanics the company currently presents to users.

What the platform currently offers organizers
Community Gaming’s current organizer page describes tools for hosting tournaments, managing brackets and automating payouts. The page lists single elimination, double elimination, Battle Royale, round robin and Swiss formats. It advertises 30K+ tournaments hosted, $2.5M+ in prizes distributed and 500K+ active players. These are company-page figures, not independently audited results, and the page does not give a publication date for them. They should not be read as proof that the 2022 funding achieved its stated aims. Details appear on the organizer page.
A dated milestone, not a current user count
The 2022 announcement said Community Gaming had reached 100,000 unique registered users by early 2022. That is a historical milestone reported by the company, not a current user count. It is also a different measure from the organizer page’s current claim of 500K+ active players, so the figures should not be compared as if they described the same population or period.
