What the 2025 fight-pay estimates do—and do not—show
William Scull fight
Sporting News estimated Alvarez’s payday for the May 2025 bout with William Scull at about $80 million. That figure is a media estimate; it should not be described as a confirmed, audited purse or as the amount Alvarez kept after taxes and costs.

Terence Crawford fight
For the September 2025 bout with Terence Crawford, Sporting News reported an estimated range of $100 million to $150 million. The range is not a final disclosed payment. Sporting News also described a Riyadh Season deal as worth $400 million for four fights, but reporting has differed on the number of fights covered. The contract value and term count should not be treated as proof that the full amount was paid or earned in 2025.
Alvarez’s earnings include more than boxing
Forbes México reported $85 million in earnings for the 12 months through May 2024: $75 million from in-ring activity and $10 million from investments and businesses. Its report mentions Canelo Energy, Upper, boxing and training ventures, a fitness app and an online clothing store. That breakdown shows why a boxing-only account does not capture all reported income for the period.
