Savencia Cheese USA recalled selected soft-ripened cheeses made at its Lena, Illinois, facility, including Emporium Selection Brie sold at Aldi. Use the product name, package identifier and best-by date together to check a package. The FDA-hosted expanded notice added Glenview Farms Spreadable Brie and gives a corrected UPC for Aldi’s Emporium Selection Brie.

Why were the products recalled?
Savencia announced the recall on November 2, 2024, after routine testing indicated that processing equipment at its Lena facility may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The company said its finished-product testing had not identified contaminated cheese, but it recalled the items as a precaution because they could have been affected. The recall notice does not report a positive test in the listed finished products. The FDA-hosted original announcement contains the initial recall details.

Savencia described distribution as limited and regional in the United States and said retailers that received the products had been notified and were removing them from shelves. The notices do not provide a complete state-by-state distribution list.
What should you do if you still have one?
- Do not eat it. Compare the name, identifier and best-by date with the table above.
- Return a matching product to the place of purchase for a full refund, as Savencia instructed.
FDA’s expanded notice says the recall was completed and terminated. That status does not change the instruction for anyone who still has a matching package: do not consume it and return it.

What is known about reported illness?
Savencia’s announcement stated: “At this time, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse health events due to consumption of these products.” That is the company’s report at the time of its announcement; it does not establish that no one was exposed or that illness was impossible.
