Carrie Fisher’s complete net worth has not been established by the available public reporting. Probate-related reports put estate property or assets at about $6.8 million, but neither report supplies a verified accounting of all her assets and liabilities. The figure is best understood as a historical report about particular probate filings—not a definitive measure of her total wealth.

What was Carrie Fisher’s reported net worth?

There is no verified, comprehensive net-worth figure in the available evidence. In August 2017, TheWrap reported that Los Angeles Superior Court probate papers estimated Fisher’s personal property at $6.8 million. TheWrap also cautioned that it was unclear whether that estimate represented the full extent of her wealth.

In May 2019, MyNewsLA reported that a filing seeking final distribution described estate assets of about $6.8 million. These are reports about probate filings, not audited net-worth statements. They do not establish a complete balance sheet of assets, debts, trusts, taxes, or the later value of rights connected with Fisher.

What the two probate reports say

Report How the amount was described Scope and details reported
2017, TheWrap $6.8 million in estimated personal property TheWrap said the estimate came from probate papers and cautioned that it might not reflect the full extent of Fisher’s wealth.
2019, MyNewsLA About $6.8 million in estate assets The report said the final-distribution filing listed bank and investment accounts, an automobile, memorabilia, furniture, collectibles, and rights of publicity. It identified Billie Lourd as the beneficiary of Fisher’s living trust.

The similar amounts should not be read as proof that Fisher’s wealth was exactly $6.8 million, remained unchanged, or was fully captured by either filing. The reports describe different filings and use different terms for the property or assets involved.

Why an estate figure is not the same as net worth

Net worth ordinarily means the value of a person’s assets minus liabilities. A probate report may describe property included in a particular estate process, but the two reports do not provide the full information needed to calculate Fisher’s overall net worth. They do not set out a complete accounting of all assets and debts or establish what was held through trusts, what taxes or other obligations applied, or how rights-related value may have changed later.

For that reason, “about $6.8 million” is a useful description of what the filings were reported to show—not a confirmed total of Fisher’s lifetime earnings, the full value passed to heirs, or her present-day wealth.

How her career fits into the question

Fisher was an actor and writer, best known for playing Princess Leia in Star Wars. Official biographies from StarWars.com and D23 also describe her work as a novelist, memoirist, screenwriter, and mental-health advocate. Her books include Postcards from the Edge, Wishful Drinking, and The Princess Diarist.

Those credits explain why readers ask about her finances, but they do not establish how much she earned, received in royalties or residuals, or retained after expenses and obligations. The probate reports are the relevant evidence for the reported estate amounts; career accomplishments alone cannot fill in a missing financial accounting.
