Usually, no: Amazon’s customer help guidance does not describe a self-service way to remove a gift card after it has been redeemed to an account balance. Amazon’s US return guidance lists gift cards as nonreturnable except as required by law. If you redeemed one by mistake or suspect someone else used it, contact Amazon through the official support route promptly; recovery is not guaranteed.
What “unredeem” means in your situation
The next step depends on whether the code has actually been claimed, where the balance was applied, and whether the redemption was authorized.

- Code not yet redeemed: An unused code may still be usable by whoever has it. If you bought it through an eligible partner program, that partner—not an ordinary Amazon customer—may have a narrow cancellation option described in Amazon’s developer documentation.
- Balance already applied to your account: The customer help pages reviewed do not offer a self-service undo or transfer. Contact Amazon support if the redemption was accidental.
- Redeemed to the wrong Amazon account: Ask Amazon support whether it can help with your specific circumstances. Do not assume the balance can be moved or that support will reverse it.
- Someone else may have redeemed it: Treat this as possible fraud. Stop sharing the code and contact Amazon through your signed-in account’s official support route.
What Amazon’s cancellation rule actually covers
Amazon’s Incentives API documentation says a gift card can be canceled only if an Amazon customer has not claimed it, and the cancellation operation must be started within 15 minutes of the creation request timestamp. How to respond to an accidental or unauthorized redemption
- Sign in to the Amazon account involved and use Amazon’s official customer-support route. Explain whether you redeemed the card yourself by mistake or believe someone else claimed the code.
- Keep relevant account and purchase details available, such as the approximate time, the account involved, and proof of purchase if you have it. Do not post the claim code publicly or send it to anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
- If you suspect a scam, stop communicating with the person who requested the code and tell Amazon what happened. Amazon warns that funds may be spent before a customer can contact Amazon or law enforcement. Read Amazon’s guidance on common gift card scams.
- Follow Amazon’s instructions and secure the account if you also suspect someone accessed it without permission. Do not treat a support request as a guarantee that the balance can be restored.
Can you transfer the balance to another account or marketplace?
Changing the country associated with an Amazon account does not transfer its gift-card balance: Amazon says the balance remains available in the original marketplace. Amazon’s country-change guidance addresses that limitation. The reviewed guidance does not establish a general customer option for moving a redeemed balance to another account.

Can Amazon refund a redeemed gift card?
Amazon’s US help page lists gift cards among nonreturnable items, with the qualification “except as required by law.” That is general US guidance, not a determination of every individual support case or of legal rights in every jurisdiction. Amazon’s nonreturnable-items guidance is the relevant policy page. Whether an exception or legal remedy applies depends on where you live and the facts; the reviewed sources do not establish a universal refund entitlement.
