Yes. You can sell cards by opening a TCGplayer Marketplace Seller account, then entering your own inventory and prices. This is different from TCGplayer Direct, a separate program with substantially higher eligibility thresholds. New seller applications are reviewed, and TCGplayer’s seller-start page notes a July 2026 registration-pause update without clearly stating whether registration is currently open. Check the live registration flow or contact TCGplayer before making plans around immediate enrollment.
What “selling directly to TCGplayer” means
For most sellers, “directly” means listing cards yourself on TCGplayer’s marketplace as a Marketplace Seller. You set up a seller account, add the cards and prices, and fulfill orders when they sell. The cards are sold through the marketplace to buyers; this is not the same as selling your collection to TCGplayer in a one-time buyout.
TCGplayer also offers Pro Seller services and inventory synchronization through third-party providers. Those are separate options and are not prerequisites for ordinary Marketplace Seller listings. TCGplayer says basic marketplace listings have no setup or listing fee, with fees charged when an item sells. See TCGplayer’s overview of selling on the marketplace.
How to become a TCGplayer seller
- Check whether registration is open. TCGplayer’s onboarding page describes U.S. seller registration and notes a limited Canadian pilot for brick-and-mortar stores or sellers with a large online marketplace presence. Its July 2026 changelog mentions a registration pause, but the displayed instructions do not establish the current status. Confirm through the live seller registration flow or TCGplayer support. Start with TCGplayer’s seller page.
- Log in or create an account and complete registration. TCGplayer says the application is reviewed before an account can go live, so completing the form does not necessarily mean you can list immediately.
- Verify your email. Follow the link TCGplayer sends to the email address on the account, then access the Seller Dashboard when approved.
- Provide the requested identity or business details. Individual registrants should be ready with their full name, address and country of residence, phone number, and date of birth. Business registrants should provide the legal business name, any DBA name, and a physical business address; a PO Box is not accepted as the business address. TCGplayer may request additional documents.
- Link a checking account for payouts. The account name and account type must match the personal or business registration details. TCGplayer also requires a digital W-9 before it issues payment. Review the seller registration requirements.
- Add inventory and prices. Once the account is live, enter the cards you have for sale and set prices. Keep listings accurate and available to ship if purchased.
Do you need a store or a large collection?
No store or Direct-program qualification is listed as a prerequisite for the ordinary Marketplace Seller route. The registration process does require seller identity and payout information, and TCGplayer reviews new applications before accounts go live. The available onboarding guidance is U.S.-focused; Canadian access is described as a limited pilot for certain established sellers, so do not assume the U.S. process applies in other countries.

The scale of your inventory mainly affects how you manage listings. You can enter inventory and prices directly; TCGplayer also describes Pro Seller and third-party inventory synchronization for sellers whose volume or sales channels make those options useful.
What TCGplayer charges Marketplace Sellers
TCGplayer’s fee page, accessed October 8, 2026, lists the following for Level 1–4 Marketplace Sellers. Fees are based on different amounts, so the percentages should not be added or applied to the same base.

These are not universal rates for every TCGplayer seller: Pro, Direct, and other arrangements have different fee rows and may involve distinct charges. Check the current row for your account type before pricing cards, since rates can change. See TCGplayer’s current seller fee schedule.
What you must do when listing and shipping cards
- List only cards you possess. The Marketplace Seller Agreement prohibits listing items you do not have in your possession and prohibits dropshipping.
- Describe each item accurately. Condition and other listing details should match the card you will send.
- Ship by the provided ship date. Follow TCGplayer’s shipping guidelines for orders.
- Add photos for certain listings. TCGplayer requires Listings With Photos for non-English cards, graded cards, and signed cards. Bulk lots can use seller-supplied photos, and the listing must accurately describe what the lot contains.

Is TCGplayer Direct required?
No. Direct is a separate, later-stage program—not the ordinary Marketplace Seller route. TCGplayer’s New Seller FAQ lists these Direct application criteria: Level 4 seller status, a 99.5% feedback rating over the previous 30 days, approximately 3,000 Direct-eligible cards, and 100 sales per month averaging $600 per week. TCGplayer says Direct applications are reviewed, and the Direct Seller Agreement also describes these thresholds. They are criteria for applying to Direct, not requirements for starting with basic marketplace listings.

Which route makes sense for you?
- A few cards or a casual collection: The basic Marketplace Seller route is the relevant option if registration is open and your application is approved. You do not need to qualify for Direct first.
- A larger inventory or multiple sales channels: Compare manual marketplace listing with Pro Seller services or third-party inventory sync, and check the fee row for the arrangement you choose.
- A high-volume operation: You can consider Direct only if you meet its stated seller, feedback, inventory, and sales thresholds and pass its application review.
Before setting prices, estimate what remains after the applicable commission and transaction fee, as well as your own costs to prepare and ship orders. TCGplayer’s rates apply to specified order amounts, so a card’s list price alone does not show your net proceeds.
