He presented Sandalford’s Swan Valley and Margaret River operations as strategically important for different reasons, and discussed the risks of expanding beyond food and wine. His comments describe the business and his views in 2012, not its present-day operations.
What did Grant Brinklow describe as Sandalford’s business?
Brinklow described Sandalford as a business with several connected activities: wine production, farming, retail, food and beverage, wine tourism, winery cruises and live concerts. In his account, these activities could support one another: concerts and visitor experiences brought people to the sites, while cross-promotion offered ways to introduce customers to the wines and other parts of the business.
He presented this breadth as a response to a business challenge he saw in the wine industry: competition, changing market conditions and what he called fickle brand loyalty. His comments about the industry and Sandalford’s strategy were made in 2012 and should not be read as a current market assessment.
Why did Sandalford have operations in both the Swan Valley and Margaret River?
Brinklow compared the two locations by purpose, not by ranking one above the other. In his 2012 account, the Swan Valley’s relative proximity to Perth made it an accessible wine-tourism destination; the Margaret River vineyard was described as the primary fruit source for Sandalford’s wine portfolio.

| Operation | Role Brinklow described in 2012 |
|---|---|
| Swan Valley | Visitor access and wine tourism, including experiences that could draw people to the site. |
| Margaret River | Vineyard production and fruit supply for Sandalford’s wine portfolio. |
Brinklow’s answer to which operation mattered more was: “Both operations are very unique and strategically important for different reasons.” That is his explanation of their complementary roles, rather than a claim that either location was more important overall.
He said the Margaret River vineyard covered 1000 acres and had been planted in 1970. Those are figures Brinklow gave in the 2012 interview, not independently verified or current acreage and planting information.

- Two glass gift set
Why did Brinklow support concerts at a winery?
Brinklow described major entertainment events as a logical extension of a business already focused on food, wine and tourism. In his view, concerts could attract visitors to Sandalford’s sites and create opportunities to cross-promote its other activities. He also acknowledged that events brought additional business risks; the interview does not quantify those risks or establish how they were managed.
He said concerts had helped build a customer database that was “well on the way” to exceeding 100,000 people. This was a forward-looking statement about a past-customer database in 2012—not a confirmed total, a current database size or a measure of concert attendance.

What did Brinklow say about development in the Swan Valley?
Brinklow supported development in the region, but argued that it should respect the Swan Valley’s viticultural history and identity. His position was: “Progress and development however should not occur at any cost.” This was his opinion in the 2012 interview, not a statement of current regional policy.

- Exclusive Craftsmanship Hand Blown:OJA red wine glasses are exquisitely crafted. This means that each special product is individually mouth blown and hand-finished in 5 mins by skilled artisans. Hand-blown crystal wine glasses are generally lighter, thinner, and more graceful than machine-made ones.
- Elegant Crystal Glasses:By eliminating lead content from the crystal glass composition, our glasses are replaced with fine Titanium crystal and a patented chemical formulation that produces ultra clear, pure, and bright glass. Premium crystal glasses also refract light, which is quite desirable when ogling your wine.
- Beautiful Resonance Sound: When you flick or touch a piece of crystal, the beautiful resonance sound is like the distant bells in a church... Tap the edge of the crystal with your fingernail and it will make a pleasant sound if it is real crystal.
- Allowing for the Purest Wine Tasting Experience: Choose a large burgundy wine glass to bring out the best in your wine. These slender red wine glasses look like the ones you'd see at dinner with a famous connoisseur. The larger glasses have a 1mm smooth rim and pull handle for effortless elegance. This design keeps your favourite red wines in the glass with delicate and intoxicating aromas.
- Hassle-free Cleaning:Our set of 4 wine glasses is capable of being spun thin while maintaining strength. Because crystal is a porous material, it's best to hand wash. Elegant crystal wine glasses are the most high-end option, keeping them scratch-free is a priority. Ideally, you want to hand wash to extend their lifespan and always for good taste.
