- Technology: distinguish features already operating on mainnet from proposals, staged upgrades and project performance claims.
- Adoption: check what is counted—transactions, wallets, TVL or stablecoin supply—and whether the reporting period and method match.
- Token economics: a stated supply cap or original allocation does not reveal current circulating supply, unlocks or market value.
- Investment performance: compare dated prices and market capitalization over the same start and end dates, alongside liquidity and relevant supply changes.
The available material is predominantly from the projects and their foundations. Its figures are useful context, but they should be read as issuer-reported unless otherwise specified.

These figures cannot establish which network had the strongest adoption: the reporting dates, definitions and measurement methods are not aligned, and there is no equivalent standardized three-network dataset in the available material.
How did the projects’ 2025 directions differ?
Algorand: adoption, decentralization and developer tools
The Algorand Foundation’s July 31, 2025 roadmap emphasized real-world use, sustainability, decentralization, governance, developer experience, privacy and post-quantum work. The Foundation said Algorand supports more than 10,000 transactions per second and instant finality, and reported no downtime during the network’s first six years. Those are Foundation claims, not independent benchmark findings.

The roadmap said peer-to-peer networking was live as an opt-in feature for nodes. It also described work planned for 2026, including AlgoKit 4.0 and Project King Safety; those roadmap items should not be mistaken for completed delivery. In a December 12, 2025 retrospective, the Foundation reported that online stake had risen from about 1 billion to 2 billion ALGO in just over a year, and validator participation had increased 121% to nearly 2,000 after incentive rewards. These are dated Foundation-reported figures, not a common decentralization measure for all three networks.
Sei: an EVM-focused transition in stages
The Sei Foundation’s January 28, 2025 vision statement prioritized ecosystem growth, progressive decentralization and lasting partnerships. That statement describes organizational priorities; by itself, it does not demonstrate that they were achieved.

In June 2025, Sei said SIP-3 had passed its initial governance vote. The proposal’s intended direction was to deprecate CosmWasm and native Cosmos transactions as Sei moved toward an EVM-only architecture. A January 2026 update described further upgrade and governance steps, with mainnet changes rolling out over time. On July 31, 2026, Sei said the first Giga components would begin with Sei 6.6. This is a staged transition, not evidence that every planned change—or any future performance target—was already realized on mainnet.
Sei’s July 2025 announcement also said native USDC and CCTP V2 were coming. That announcement records what the project said at the time; it does not establish their current availability. Likewise, the project’s reported transaction and TVL growth should be considered alongside the period and baseline it specified, rather than compared directly with differently reported figures from Algorand.

BlockDAG: a roadmap and supply statement, not a matched usage record
BlockDAG’s own materials describe a primordial testnet and staged development milestones. The reviewed material does not independently establish current mainnet status, live network usage, circulating supply, exchange liquidity or market performance. A roadmap milestone or planned listing should not be treated as realized adoption.

Supply figures alone do not determine whether a token is cheap or expensive. A valuation comparison would also need date-stamped circulating supply, prices, unlocks and liquidity on a consistent basis.

Can we say which token performed best in 2025?
No. The available material does not provide a matched 2025 price-return or market-cap series for BDAG, ALGO and SEI. Without consistent start and end dates and comparable market data, it cannot identify the best-performing asset. It also does not establish current relative valuations, liquidity, risk or risk-adjusted performance, so it cannot support an investment ranking or price forecast.
How to make a fair comparison
- Choose the question first. Decide whether you mean technical delivery, adoption, decentralization, token economics or investment performance.
- Set a common date range. For a 2025 return comparison, use the same start and end dates and a consistent price source for every token.
- Match the metric definitions. Compare like with like—for example, the same definition of active wallets or TVL, measured over the same period.

Until those comparisons are available, the defensible conclusion is metric-specific: Algorand and Sei publish selected ecosystem figures and technical updates, while BlockDAG’s reviewed evidence is chiefly its own supply statement and staged roadmap. None of that establishes a single 2025 leader across all three.
