Boeing Business Jets announced a 747-8 VIP turnkey offering on October 14, 2025, bundling aircraft acquisition, custom cabin design and build, delivery, and in-service support. Boeing says customers can coordinate the work through a dedicated team under one Boeing contract; it has not published a price or a delivery schedule for a new customer.
What does Boeing’s 747-8 VIP turnkey service include?
Boeing describes the offer as a full-spectrum service spanning the aircraft and the work needed to prepare it for VIP use. The company announced it in Las Vegas on October 14, 2025.
- Aircraft acquisition: Boeing includes acquisition as part of the offering, but the announcement does not explain the purchasing process or disclose a price.
- Custom cabin design and build: A dedicated Boeing team can oversee the design and completion of the cabin. Boeing says the work can be handled under a single Boeing contract.
- Delivery: Delivery is included in the stated scope, but Boeing did not give a delivery date or timeline for a new customer.
- In-service support: Boeing says the offer includes comprehensive support after delivery. The announcement does not detail specific support services or service terms.
The announcement does not name an outside interior-completion provider or report that a customer has ordered an aircraft through this new offer. [Boeing’s October 14, 2025 announcement]
What are the cabin capacity and range figures?
Boeing states that the 747-8 VIP offers nearly 5,000 square feet of premium cabin space, capacity for 75 passengers, and a range of 8,500 nautical miles. These are Boeing’s published figures; the announcement does not provide payload assumptions or independent performance testing.

Boeing cites New York–Bangkok and Dubai–Los Angeles as examples of nonstop connections. They illustrate the routes Boeing says the aircraft can connect; they are not a guarantee that every VIP configuration can fly those routes nonstop under all payload, weather, or operating conditions.
What does Boeing say about operating characteristics?
Boeing says technologies derived from the 787 Dreamliner reduce the 747-8’s noise footprint, fuel consumption, and maintenance compared with earlier 747 models. The announcement provides no measured savings, percentages, or test basis, so it does not establish how large those reductions are for a particular operator or aircraft.

How should the 2025 offer be understood against the 747-8’s VIP history?
The new announcement presents a bundled acquisition-through-support service, not a new aircraft configuration with a publicly specified cabin plan. Earlier Boeing releases describe different aircraft or concepts and should not be combined with the 2025 figures.
- In 2007, Boeing described concept interiors that included a SkyLoft and a 100-passenger example. Those were concepts, not specifications for the turnkey offer. [Boeing’s May 22, 2007 concept announcement]
- In 2012, Boeing reported delivery of a specific 747-8 Intercontinental VIP aircraft for interior completion. That aircraft had a different configuration, including an Aeroloft and 100-passenger capacity. Those details describe that aircraft, not the 2025 service generally. [Boeing’s February 28, 2012 delivery announcement]
Boeing’s 2025 release also says nearly 50 747-8 aircraft are in service, including aircraft used for business and government travel. It does not say how many are VIP-configured or available through the new turnkey offering. Boeing Business Jets president Joe Benson said the 747-8 continues to serve as a VIP and head-of-state aircraft and that customers are interested in continuing that tradition. What is not disclosed about the turnkey service?
Boeing’s announcement outlines the service categories and aircraft figures, but leaves important commercial and planning details open. It does not state:
- the acquisition or completion price;
- a delivery schedule for a new customer;
- a detailed cabin layout or menu of customization choices;
- the named providers, if any, involved in interior completion; or
- specific in-service support terms.
For a prospective buyer, those omissions mean the announcement defines the intended scope of the offer, not the final cost, configuration, or timing of a transaction.
