To verify a transfer, search its transaction ID on an explorer for the network it used, then compare the recorded destination, amount, status and block details with the sender’s record. Bitcoin transfers belong on a Bitcoin explorer; transfers sent on BNB Smart Chain (BSC) belong on BscScan or another BSC explorer. The networks and their explorers are not interchangeable.
Find the transaction ID and identify the network
Copy the transaction identifier from the sending wallet, exchange withdrawal record or transaction details. Bitcoin calls it a transaction ID or TXID; on BSC it is generally called a transaction hash or TxID. Search the identifier to inspect one specific transaction. Searching an address instead shows that address’s broader history, which may include many transactions. Bitcoin.com explains that explorers can search by either a TXID or address: Bitcoin.com’s blockchain explorer guide.
Before opening an explorer, check the network named in the sender’s withdrawal or transfer record. “BNB” alone can be ambiguous. For a BNB Smart Chain mainnet transfer, BNB Chain lists BscScan as an explorer and identifies the network by chain ID 56: BNB Chain wallet configuration.
- Bitcoin: use a Bitcoin blockchain explorer and search the TXID.
- BNB Smart Chain: use BscScan or another BSC explorer and search the transaction hash.
Do not use the legacy BNB Beacon Chain explorer to look up a new BSC transfer. BNB Chain’s official explorer notice says Beacon Chain shut down on December 3, 2024, at block height 385,251,927: BNB Beacon Chain explorer notice.

Check that the explorer result matches the transfer
Open the result and compare its public chain details with the sender’s record. Explorer layouts and labels vary, but the important checks are consistent:
- Destination: confirm the recipient address matches the intended address. If you control it, compare the full address rather than relying on a shortened display.
- Asset and amount: check the BTC amount for a Bitcoin transfer. For BSC, check the token and amount as well as the destination; a token transfer can differ from a transfer of BNB itself.
- Status and block information: look for whether the transaction is pending, included in a block, or marked successful or failed, and note the block and confirmation details shown.
- Fee and time: compare the fee and timestamp where available. These can help distinguish the intended transfer from another transaction, but neither proves that the recipient’s wallet has displayed the asset.
Bitcoin explorer pages commonly show sender and recipient addresses, amount, fee and confirmation status, as described in Bitcoin.com’s explorer guide. On BSC, the sender’s “completed” message is not a substitute for confirming the transaction on the correct network and checking its destination and outcome. BNB Chain’s BSC FAQ addresses cases where a sender reports a completed transfer but the receiving wallet does not show the asset.

Understand Bitcoin confirmations
A Bitcoin transaction with zero confirmations has been broadcast but is not yet included in a block. One confirmation means it has been included in a block; each later block adds another confirmation. More confirmations generally make reversal less likely, but they do not make it mathematically impossible. Bitcoin Developer Documentation notes that a one-confirmation transaction still has a double-spend risk because a recent block can be replaced: Bitcoin Developer Guide: unconfirmed transactions.
Bitcoin blocks are found about every 10 minutes on average, not on a guaranteed schedule. An individual block may take much less or much longer, and a low-fee transaction may wait longer to be included. Bitcoin.org describes six confirmations as a convention often considered cautious, not a universal acceptance rule or guarantee. The person or service receiving the payment sets its own threshold based on the payment’s value and risk: Bitcoin.org FAQ on confirmations.

Understand BNB Smart Chain status and finality
For a BSC transaction, confirm that the explorer entry is for the expected transaction and that it reports a successful outcome, the right recipient and the intended token or asset. BNB Chain documentation describes a dual-layer finality approach: economic fast finality is reached by block n+2, with an approximate transaction finality time of 3.75 seconds under its stated 1.5-second block-time mechanism. This is BNB Chain’s documented chain mechanism, not a promise that an exchange or recipient will credit a deposit within that time: BNB Chain API documentation.
If the recipient cannot see the funds
A transfer can appear on-chain without appearing in the receiving wallet’s balance screen. For a BSC transfer, work through these checks in order:

- Open the sender’s transfer or withdrawal record and verify which network was used.
- Use an explorer for that network and search the transaction hash. Check whether the transaction succeeded or failed.
- Compare the recipient address in the transaction with the address shown by the receiving wallet. A successful transfer to a different address will not arrive at the intended one.
- Make sure the receiving wallet is viewing the network that received the transfer. A wallet’s display on another network will not show the same chain’s asset.
- If the transaction succeeded to the correct address but the token is missing from the wallet screen, check whether the wallet supports or displays that token. Consult the token project’s official status, announcement or distribution information when relevant.
These checks reflect BNB Chain’s guidance for cases where a sender says a transfer is complete but the recipient cannot see it: BNB Chain BSC FAQ. Do not share a seed phrase or private key to get help with an explorer lookup. A transaction hash and public address are sufficient to inspect public chain data.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use the explorer result to make an acceptance decision
An explorer shows what the chain currently records; it does not decide how much confirmation or finality a recipient should require. For Bitcoin, the relevant confirmation threshold depends on the receiving party’s policy and the payment’s risk. For BSC, distinguish the chain’s documented finality mechanism from the time a particular exchange or wallet takes to credit an incoming deposit. If a service is waiting to credit a payment, check its stated deposit requirements as well as the on-chain record.
