The Central Pollution Control Board’s 74-post consultant recruitment was a 2023 contractual hiring round under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), and applications are closed. The deadline was October 10, 2023, at 23:59. The notice advertised 19 Consultant A, 52 Consultant B and 3 Consultant C posts; anyone checking for a current opening should use CPCB’s official Jobs section rather than an old application link.

What was the CPCB 74-consultant recruitment?

CPCB advertised 74 contractual consultant posts for the National Clean Air Programme. The recruitment schedule listed September 20, 2023, as the commencement date and October 10, 2023, at 23:59 as the application deadline. The application window has closed. Scroll.in’s contemporaneous report also summarized the category-wise vacancies and eligibility.

Category Vacancies Experience band advertised Qualification summary
Consultant A 19 More than 3 and up to 5 years Environmental engineering, technology or science qualifications; category-specific wording and conditions are in the original notice.
Consultant B 52 More than 5 and up to 10 years Environmental engineering, technology or science qualifications; category-specific wording and conditions are in the original notice.
Consultant C 3 More than 10 and up to 15 years Environmental engineering, technology or science qualifications; category-specific wording and conditions are in the original notice.

The notice also set a maximum age of 65 years as of September 1, 2023. It described qualification requirements that varied by category; a contemporaneous summary also noted good knowledge of MS Office where applicable. The original notice is the authority for the complete qualification wording and any other conditions. These are historical criteria for that round, not current eligibility rules.

What was the application deadline?

The deadline was October 10, 2023, at 23:59. The recruitment began on September 20, 2023, according to the notice schedule. No application can now be submitted for that round.

How did candidates apply in 2023?

Applicants were directed to CPCB’s website, open the Jobs section, and follow the recruitment link to register and submit an application online. Those directions are historical and do not provide a route to apply now. If CPCB advertises another consultant vacancy, use the schedule and instructions in that new notice rather than relying on the archived 2023 process.

How to check for a new CPCB vacancy safely

  1. Go to CPCB’s official website and open its Jobs section.
  2. Check that any listing is an official CPCB recruitment notice, and read its dates, eligibility criteria and application directions in full.
  3. Do not treat an old 2023 recruitment link or an unsolicited message as proof that applications are open.

CPCB’s current public notice says: “It may please be noted that CPCB has not appointed and does not entertain any consultant.” It warns that people falsely claiming to be CPCB consultants may offer to get work done and tells the public not to entertain such requests, calls or directions. CPCB advises reporting incidents to its Chief Vigilance Officer or the Office of the Member Secretary. This warning concerns false claims; it does not negate the 2023 recruitment notice.
