What is known about the sources of his wealth?
May is a founding member of Queen and a songwriter whose career spans decades. Queen’s official biography credits him with 22 worldwide hits and says Queen recordings have sold in excess of 100 million copies worldwide. It also documents his solo albums, including Back to the Light (1992) and Another World (1998), as well as his work as an author and owner of the London Stereoscopic Company. These are plausible sources of earnings, but the biography does not say how much May personally retained. QueenOnline’s Brian May biography also notes that he co-authored the illustrated astronomy book BANG! The Complete History of the Universe with Patrick Moore and Chris Lintott.
Why Queen’s revenue and catalog deal do not establish May’s net worth
Company revenue and reported transaction values are not the same as an individual’s income or net worth.
