Brookfield’s Infrastructure Fund VI: From Early Talks to $9.3 Billion Raised

Brookfield’s February 2024 discussions about a new infrastructure fund were informal, early-stage conversations—not a formal launch. The firm later said it was preparing the sixth vintage for 2026, and on August 5, 2026, reported that it had raised $9.3 billion for it. That is a progress update, not a disclosed final fund size or final close.

What Brookfield reported about Fund VI

On February 21, 2024, Bloomberg reported that Brookfield Asset Management had begun informal investor discussions about the sixth vintage of its flagship infrastructure fund, with a possible 2025 launch. Bloomberg attributed the information to unnamed people familiar with the matter. One said the timing could change, and Brookfield declined to comment. The report therefore described early fundraising discussions, not a confirmed launch date or completed fundraise. Bloomberg News, republished by Data Center Knowledge.

Brookfield’s own later disclosures moved the timeline forward: its Q4 2025 shareholder letter said the company was preparing to launch the sixth vintage in 2026 and expected it to be the largest vintage of its infrastructure flagship to date. On August 5, 2026, the company reported $9.3 billion raised for the vintage. It said the fund was on track to be the largest in the strategy, but the reported amount does not establish a final close or final total. Fund V and Fund VI: what the figures mean

Vintage or disclosure Reported amount or status What the figure represents
Fund V, closed December 2023 $30 billion in commitments for the infrastructure strategy Bloomberg reported $28 billion for Brookfield Infrastructure Fund V and about $2 billion for related co-investment vehicles. It is not a $30 billion commitment to Fund V alone. Bloomberg News, February 21, 2024.
Fund VI, reported August 5, 2026 $9.3 billion raised for the sixth vintage Brookfield’s reported vintage fundraising amount; the disclosure reviewed does not identify it as a final close or final fund size. Brookfield Q2 2026 results.
Infrastructure flagship, Q2 2026 $7.9 billion raised during the quarter A separate quarterly fundraising figure reported by Brookfield. It is not the same measure as the $9.3 billion raised for Fund VI, and the two figures should not be added together. Brookfield Q2 2026 results.

Fund V deployment was also discussed in the February 2024 report: CEO Bruce Flatt said about 40% had been deployed across six investments at that time. That is a dated snapshot, not a current deployment figure or a complete account of the portfolio. Bloomberg News, February 21, 2024.

Why Brookfield says infrastructure investment is needed

In the 2024 report, Brookfield linked its investment thesis to the energy transition, digitization, artificial intelligence, energy security, supply-chain resilience and growing demand for data. Flatt told analysts on February 7, 2024: “Stakeholders have made commitments to net zero targets and are grappling with energy, security, supply chain resiliency and meeting the exponentially growing demand for data,” adding that addressing these challenges would require trillions of dollars in investment. This is Brookfield’s stated rationale, not an independently verified forecast of demand, spending or investment returns. Bloomberg News, February 21, 2024.
