The agreements divided game packages among CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN/ABC, Amazon Prime Video and NFL Network; they were not a new set of contracts signed in 2024. For viewers, the practical result was that the channel or service depended on the game’s day, time and market.
How long did the NFL’s broadcasting agreements last?
The NFL announced its long-term agreements with Amazon, CBS, ESPN, FOX and NBC in 2021. The framework began with the 2023 season and was set to run through the 2033 season, making 2024 its second season. The league described the arrangements as covering distribution on television and digital platforms. NFL announcement
The public announcements cited here do not provide a complete fee schedule for every partner. Exact annual payments or a total deal value should therefore not be treated as confirmed by these announcements.
Which broadcaster had each NFL package in 2024?
| Package | 2024 broadcaster or service | What the agreement covered |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday afternoon, AFC package | CBS | CBS said its package aired on the CBS Television Network and streamed on Paramount+. Its announcement described 10 doubleheaders, eight singleheaders and the annual Thanksgiving game. CBS announcement |
| Sunday afternoon, NFC package | FOX | FOX remained the home of the NFC Sunday-afternoon package and the NFC Championship Game. Its expanded digital rights included NFL programming on Tubi, alternate feeds and other digital uses; that announcement does not establish that Tubi carried the full live Sunday package. FOX announcement |
| Sunday night | NBC | NBC continued Sunday Night Football, with Peacock simulcasts and selected exclusive Peacock game feeds over the agreement. NFL announcement |
| Monday night | ESPN/ABC | ESPN remained the home of Monday Night Football. The agreement also included ESPN+ simulcasts of ABC/ESPN games and one exclusive International Series game each season. NFL announcement |
| Thursday night | Amazon Prime Video | Prime Video became the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football beginning in 2023, creating the league’s first all-digital package as described by the NFL. NFL announcement |
| Selected exclusive games | NFL Network | The league said NFL Network would continue to carry a selected schedule of exclusive games annually. NFL announcement |
What did the contracts change about scheduling?
The NFL said the agreements gave it more flexibility for Sunday Night Football and introduced flex scheduling for Monday Night Football. The stated goal was to move more meaningful games into prime-time windows. The announcements establish that scheduling flexibility was part of the framework; they do not mean every game or matchup could be moved without limits.

How did the Super Bowl fit into the agreements?
The NFL’s announcement laid out this broadcaster rotation for 2023–2033:
- 2023, 2027 and 2031: CBS
- 2024, 2028 and 2032: FOX
- 2025, 2029 and 2033: NBC
- 2026 and 2030: ABC
On that schedule, FOX was the NFL-announced broadcaster for the 2024 Super Bowl. CBS’s separate release, however, labels Super Bowl LVIII as a 2024 broadcast and lists additional CBS Super Bowls in 2028 and 2032, which conflicts with the NFL’s rotation by year. The two releases do not align on the year labels, so the NFL rotation is stated here as the league’s announced schedule rather than treating both announcements as consistent. Were there opt-outs or termination rights?
FOX’s announcement said its agreement ran through 2033, while a footnote described a one-time NFL termination right after the seventh year, covering the 2030–2033 seasons. CBS separately said the NFL had a one-time opt-out right after the 2029 season. These are the terms each company described in its own announcement; they should not be assumed to establish identical trigger mechanics for every partner. FOX announcement CBS announcement

Yes, but the relevant service depended on the game and where you were watching. For the 2024 contract framework, Thursday Night Football was on Prime Video; CBS and FOX held Sunday-afternoon packages; NBC carried Sunday Night Football; and ESPN/ABC carried Monday Night Football. CBS’s announcement specifically included Paramount+ streaming for its games, while the NFL described Peacock simulcasts and selected exclusive feeds for NBC’s package.

Do not assume that a subscription to one service included every NFL game. The NFL’s current support guide describes a later access lineup: local-market Sunday-afternoon games on CBS and FOX; Sunday Night Football on NBC; Monday Night Football on ESPN/ABC; Thursday Night Football and the Black Friday game on Prime Video; and selected exclusive, international or Saturday games on NFL Network. The guide also names YouTube for the 2026 São Paulo international game and Netflix for exclusive Christmas games, so those details should not be read as a description of the 2024 season. NFL viewing guide
For games outside a viewer’s local Sunday-afternoon market, the guide identifies NFL Sunday Ticket, available on YouTube TV. Outside the United States, it identifies DAZN as the NFL Game Pass International route. Device support, provider login, local market and blackout conditions can affect access; check the NFL’s season-specific guidance before relying on a particular subscription.
