They are among a broader group of entertainers and athletes linked to football clubs—but “owner” can mean anything from minority investor to co-owner, and not every name below represents a current stake.
Ten celebrities and the clubs they own or have owned
This list uses “celebrity” broadly to include entertainers, musicians and prominent athletes. It distinguishes current or recently reported involvement from a historical role. A public association with a team does not, by itself, show that someone controls it.

What “celebrity owner” means in practice
A stake does not necessarily mean control
Ownership groups can include multiple investors, and a person’s profile does not tell you the size of their stake or whether they make controlling decisions. Brady is a clear example: BBC Sport described his Birmingham City involvement as a minority ownership role. The available reports cited here do not establish ownership percentages for the people listed.
Some names refer to one shared club investment
Reynolds and McElhenney are both listed because each is a well-known co-owner of Wrexham, but they share that club association. Beckham’s case is different: alongside his connection to Inter Miami, the Associated Press reported him as part of Salford City’s ownership group in 2025.

Historical roles should not be mistaken for current ownership
Elton John belongs on a list of famous figures associated with club ownership because of his prominent Watford chairmanship beginning in 1976. It is a historical example, not evidence that he owns the club today.

A recognizable investor can draw attention to a club and potentially widen its commercial reach. Swansea City presented Snoop Dogg’s profile as an opportunity for greater reach and commercial performance when it announced him as a co-owner and investor in July 2025. The club also quoted him saying, “My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City.”

Visibility is not the same as sporting or financial success. A celebrity’s involvement alone does not establish that a club will perform better on the pitch or improve its finances.
