If you will lose access to that login—or are closing a Webull crypto account—save the records you need first. Brokerage and crypto closures follow different steps, and crypto closure can remove tax documents and history from the app.
Before you close an account, save the records you need
Download any tax forms, statements, and transaction records you may need before taking an action that could remove your access. This is especially important for Webull Pay: Webull says closing a crypto trading account removes it from the app, including past activity history, statements, and tax documents. Deleting a Webull Pay ID is a separate action that erases linked activity history, trade records, statements, and tax documents; Webull says support cannot recover those records after deletion. See Webull’s crypto account and ID instructions.
How to close a Webull brokerage account
Webull requires the brokerage account to meet all of these conditions before you submit a closure request:
- Cash balance is $0.
- No open positions, including stocks, options, or other securities.
- No negative cash balance.
- No pending deposits, withdrawals, or ACAT transfers.
- No incoming dividend or interest payments.
After the account meets those requirements, submit the request through the app or website:
#1 Best Overall
- In the mobile app: Go to Menu → Settings → Account Management → Close Account. Confirm the requirements and submit.
- On the website: Select the profile icon → My Account → Verify → Manage My Account → Delete Account. Confirm the requirements and submit.
Webull Help Center says a brokerage closure request typically takes 1 to 3 business days to process, and can be cancelled within 24 hours. Those are estimates and a cancellation window, not a guaranteed completion date. See Webull’s brokerage closure instructions.
Closing the brokerage account is not the same as deleting your Webull login profile. Webull says your login credentials can remain active after closure; profile deletion is a separate action.

How to download brokerage tax documents after closure
If your brokerage account is closed but your Webull login still works, use the normal document menus:
- In the app: Account → select the account → Documents → tap the tax year under Tax Document to download the PDF.
- On the website: My Account → E-Documents → Securities Tax Documents.
- In the desktop app: Account → Account Details → Tax Documents.
If you have no active login, Webull directs former customers to webull.com/edocs to retrieve documents. Webull says identity verification requires personal information, including your name and Social Security number. Enter sensitive information only on Webull’s official portal. Its tax-document access guidance and common tax questions both direct customers without online access to that portal.

Crypto account closure is a separate process
Do not use the brokerage closure steps for a crypto account. Webull’s crypto instructions give this route:
- Select Account and open Account Management.
- Find Crypto Account and choose Close Crypto Account.
- Authenticate, accept the terms, and confirm.
Webull says crypto closure can take up to 48 hours and may be cancelled within 48 hours. Once closed, the crypto account cannot be reactivated or reopened. Because closure removes the account and its past activity, statements, and tax documents from the app, download records beforehand. Webull’s crypto closure guidance also explains that deleting a Webull Pay ID erases linked records and that support cannot recover them.

If the crypto account is closed and you no longer have an active login, Webull directs customers to webullpay.com/edocs for crypto tax forms. Webull says identity verification requires personal information, including your name and Social Security number. Use only that official portal to provide it; the retrieval route is described in Webull’s tax-document access guidance.

What Webull issues depends on the account activity and tax year. A consolidated brokerage 1099 may include Forms 1099-B, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, and 1099-MISC. Webull estimates a first availability run on January 31 and a correction run from late February to early March, but says actual delivery can vary. An account conversion may also mean separate forms from Apex Financial and Webull Financial, depending on activity. Check Webull’s tax-form availability details for the relevant year.

For reportable digital-asset transactions, Webull describes Form 1099-DA. For tax year 2025, a customer may receive two Forms 1099-DA depending on account activity. Webull identifies Bakkt as the issuer for residents of New York, Guam, or the Northern Mariana Islands; elsewhere, Webull Pay and/or Bakkt may issue forms. Issuers can depend on residence and account circumstances, so confirm the applicable details for your tax year in Webull’s availability information and tax-document access guidance.
Not every crypto customer receives a 1099-DA. Webull gives customers who only bought crypto and did not sell or convert it as an example of customers who may not receive one. The absence of a form does not, by itself, establish that activity is non-taxable. Webull also says it cannot provide tax advice.
What to do if a form is missing or incorrect
Webull’s common tax questions say it issues a 1099-DIV for more than $10 in dividends, a 1099-INT for more than $10 in interest, and a 1099-B for sales of stocks, ETFs, or options. These are Webull’s examples of form triggers, not a complete explanation of tax-reporting rules. See Webull’s common tax questions.
If you think a 1099 is incorrect, Webull asks customers to contact it through the in-app Help Center and provide relevant supporting information. If Webull issues a corrected 1099, the updated form can be downloaded from the app or website. Webull says it cannot provide tax advice. Read Webull’s correction instructions.
