Todd Cantwell tops SalaryLeaks’ estimated Blackburn Rovers salary list for the 2025–26 season at £30,000 a week. Five players are tied in the next salary tier at £15,000 a week each. Those figures rank estimated pay, not value for money: the available evidence does not provide comparable performance and availability data to rank the six by value.
Blackburn Rovers’ highest-paid players in 2025–26
The figures below come from SalaryLeaks’ 2025–26 table, last updated 17 June 2026. SalaryLeaks says comprehensive Championship salary data is rarely published and describes its figures as informed estimates based on available reporting and club wage-bill information. They are not confirmed contract disclosures.
| Salary tier | Player | Estimated weekly salary | Estimated annual salary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Todd Cantwell | £30,000 | £1.6 million |
| Tied 2–6 | Sean McLoughlin | £15,000 | £780,000 |
| Tied 2–6 | Augustus Kargbo | £15,000 | £780,000 |
| Tied 2–6 | Yuki Ohashi | £15,000 | £780,000 |
| Tied 2–6 | Ryoya Morishita | £15,000 | £780,000 |
| Tied 2–6 | Harry Pickering | £15,000 | £780,000 |
SalaryLeaks’ Blackburn Rovers salary table also estimates the club’s first-team salaries at £14 million for 2025–26. That table total is not an official club figure, and it should not be confused with a separate current wage-bill headline on the site.
Why this is not a value-for-money ranking
Salary alone cannot show whether a player represents good value. A meaningful comparison would need comparable information for the same period: estimated annual salary, role, appearances or minutes available, and role-appropriate on-field contribution. Any market-value estimate would be a separate measure, not a substitute for salary or performance evidence.

The available material does not establish a complete, comparable set of 2025–26 appearances, minutes, goals, assists, defensive contributions, or availability for these six players. It also contains no independently confirmed individual salaries. Ranking them by “value for money” would therefore imply evidence that is not available here.
Why the season matters
Salary rankings can change between seasons. In SalaryLeaks’ 2026–27 table, last updated 24 September 2026, Samy Morsy and Cantwell are tied at an estimated £30,000 a week (£1.6 million annually). A group that includes Afolayan, McLoughlin, Kargbo, Ohashi, and Pickering is listed at £15,000 a week (£780,000 annually). Those are estimates for a different season, not the basis of the 2025–26 six-player list.

Blackburn Rovers’ Fans’ Forum minutes from 16 September 2024 provide historical context, not confirmation of these later estimates. Recruitment director Rudy Gestede described a data-led process followed by team discussion of which players to approach. CEO Steve Waggott said the club had a strict wage structure and would not overpay for an individual player. These comments explain the club’s stated approach at that meeting; they do not verify any player’s salary or establish value on the pitch.

The official Fans’ Forum minutes record Gestede saying, “Then it was a team effort to arrive at specific players to approach and try to secure.” Waggott’s recorded comment was that a higher overall wage budget had been approved to improve competitiveness, while “a strict wage structure existed and that the club would not overpay for any particular player.”
