ThinkMarkets’ forex costs depend on the account, country of residence, currency used for the account and how long a position stays open. The headline figures are straightforward: Standard and ThinkTrader accounts advertise spread-only forex pricing from 0.4 pips, while ThinkZero offers raw spreads from 0.0 pips and charges commission.
Those figures are not the same as the typical cost of every trade. ThinkMarkets labels its contract-specification figures as minimum spreads, and its disclosures say spreads float and can widen. Swap, inactivity charges, currency conversion and bank fees can also affect the total cost.
Important availability note: ThinkMarkets’ global website excludes residents of the United States, Canada, the European Union, Australia, the United Kingdom, Russia, India, Saint Lucia and Japan from the offer shown there. ThinkMarkets also says US residents cannot apply for or maintain an account. Check the legal entity and account terms available in your country before treating these figures as applicable.

ThinkMarkets’ account-comparison page currently lists minimum deposits of $10, $50 and $100 respectively. Its minimum-deposit help article gives the same figures, although the separate ThinkTrader page says the account should be funded with at least $50. This is an unresolved inconsistency in ThinkMarkets’ own pages. Applicants should use the amount displayed in ThinkPortal for their region rather than relying on a universal ThinkTrader minimum.

Older pages and third-party reviews may also quote a $500 ThinkZero minimum. ThinkMarkets’ current account-comparison page and minimum-deposit FAQ state $100, so the $500 figure should be treated as stale or potentially jurisdiction-specific unless it appears during the applicant’s onboarding process.
Standard and ThinkTrader: spread-only costs
Standard and ThinkTrader accounts do not add a separate forex commission. The trading cost is built into the spread. ThinkMarkets also says it does not charge platform or access fees.
The advertised “from 0.4 pips” figure is a starting spread, not a guaranteed spread or a promise about normal execution. On its global contract-specification page, ThinkMarkets labels the relevant column MIN SPREAD*. Its regulatory disclosures describe spreads as floating and warn that they may increase in changing market conditions.

These are the values currently shown in the unfiltered listing, not guaranteed average execution spreads. The page has an Account Type selector, so the relevant account and regional site should be selected before comparing pairs.
ThinkZero: raw spreads plus commission
ThinkZero is not a zero-cost account. It combines raw spreads that can start at 0.0 pips with a commission on forex, gold and silver. A raw spread can still be above zero when an order is executed, and the spread can change with liquidity and market conditions.
For a USD-base-currency account, ThinkMarkets charges USD 7 per round-turn lot. Round turn means opening and closing the position together. The calculation is:

For example, one standard lot of EUR/USD in a USD account has a basic ThinkZero cost of $7 commission plus the raw spread cost. That calculation excludes overnight funding, slippage and any currency conversion.
Check the ThinkZero symbol suffix
On MT4 and MT5, ThinkMarkets says ThinkZero clients must use the symbol ending in x to receive ThinkZero pricing. Examples include:

XAGUSDxChoosing EURUSD instead of EURUSDx is an easy operational mistake. Before placing an order, confirm that the symbol selected in Market Watch matches the account’s intended pricing.
How to check the current spread
ThinkMarkets does not publish one permanent spread for every forex pair and account. Use this route on the website:

- Select Contract specifications.
- Scroll to the FOREX section.
- Choose the applicable Account Type.
- Choose a category such as All, Major, Minor or Exotic.
- Compare the instrument’s minimum spread and trading-size information.
The page also lists contract size, minimum trade size, maximum trade size and maximum leverage. The standard forex contract size shown is 100,000 units, the minimum trade size is 0.01 lots, and many listed major and minor pairs show a 50-lot maximum. Limits can vary by instrument, liquidity and account.
For a realistic cost check, compare the live bid and ask in the trading platform at the time you expect to trade. The website’s minimum is useful for an initial comparison, but it does not show what a particular order will pay during news, market open, rollover or thin liquidity.
Overnight funding and swap charges
A forex position held past the daily rollover can incur a swap debit or receive a swap credit. The amount depends on the pair, whether the position is long or short, the number of lots and the current swap rate.
ThinkMarkets gives this calculation:

On MT4 or MT5 desktop:
View → Symbols → select the instrument → PropertiesThe properties window shows the long and short swap rates.

Holding a long and short position in the same instrument does not necessarily remove the cost: ThinkMarkets warns that overnight funding can apply to both sides of a simultaneous hedge.
Swap-free accounts still have possible charges
ThinkMarkets offers swap-free status at its discretion, generally for clients who cannot pay or receive interest for religious reasons. Ordinary swap or interest adjustments are not applied, but positions held for five days or longer can incur a weekly administrative fee. The current help-centre description says there is no administration fee during the first four days.
The public swap-free page gives an example of a $10-per-day administration fee for EUR/USD. That is an example, not a universal charge for every pair. Check the current product-specific schedule before assuming a position is free to hold.
ThinkMarkets may remove swap-free status and recover previously waived swap charges if it considers the account’s activity abusive, including activity that deliberately or inadvertently attempts to profit from differences in swap rates.
Other fees and funding costs
Inactivity
ThinkMarkets may charge an inactivity fee after at least six months without trading activity. Its current help-centre wording does not give one universal amount. The charge is deducted only from the remaining balance and will not make the account negative. ThinkMarkets says it may review or reimburse the fee when the client deposits again and resumes trading.
Deposits and bank charges
ThinkMarkets says it does not charge a fee to deposit into a trading account. A bank or intermediary can still charge for an international transfer, and currency conversion may create an additional cost.

For CFD and forex clients, ThinkMarkets says it may reimburse up to USD 50 in bank fees when all of the following apply:
- At least USD 5,000 is transferred.
- A bank or intermediary charged a fee.
- The client submits a copy of the transfer receipt to [email protected].
Reimbursement requires approval; it is not an automatic fee waiver.
Crypto deposits have a stated minimum of USD 20, but network fees can reduce the amount credited. ThinkMarkets gives the example of a $20 transfer reduced to $19 by a $1 network fee, leaving the deposit below the minimum. Use ThinkPortal to initiate the deposit and send more than the minimum when necessary.

ThinkZero may appear cheaper when its raw spread is materially below the spread on a Standard or ThinkTrader account. But the correct comparison is the all-in round-trip cost:

Verdict: are ThinkMarkets forex fees competitive?
ThinkMarkets has a clear account structure, but the best choice depends on execution spreads and trading frequency rather than the headline “from” number alone. Standard and ThinkTrader are simpler for traders who prefer to see the main forex cost in the spread. ThinkZero may suit active traders who want raw pricing and are comfortable calculating commission, provided the resulting spread-plus-commission cost is lower for the pairs and trading times they use.
The practical checks are more important than the marketing label:
- Confirm that the account is available in your country and identify the regulated entity.
- Verify the minimum deposit shown in ThinkPortal, especially for ThinkTrader.
- Select the correct account type on the contract-specification page.
- Compare live bid-ask spreads during your normal trading hours.
- On ThinkZero MT4 or MT5, use the symbol ending in
x. - Check swap rates before holding a position past rollover.
- Include commission, funding, slippage and possible inactivity charges in your cost estimate.
ThinkMarkets’ published rates are a useful starting point, but they are not a substitute for checking the live platform quote and the terms attached to the account available in your jurisdiction.

Does ThinkMarkets charge forex commission on Standard and ThinkTrader?
ThinkMarkets describes both Standard and ThinkTrader as spread-only accounts, so there is no separate forex commission. The trading cost is incorporated into the floating spread.
What is the ThinkZero forex commission?
For a USD-base-currency account, ThinkZero commission is USD 7 per round-turn lot. The published equivalents include EUR 6, GBP 5, AUD 7, CHF 7, SGD 7 and ZAR 100 per lot. The commission applies to forex, gold and silver.
Is a 0.0-pip ThinkZero spread guaranteed?
