The Jersey Financial Services Commission warned about it in November 2017, and the UK Financial Conduct Authority identified it as a clone firm in April 2018.
That finding does not automatically prove that the separate company currently trading from whitestone-finance.co.uk is the same operation. Companies House records show a different company number, incorporation date and registered office. The current website presents the business as a commercial-finance broker and says it operates as an appointed representative of Crystal Business Finance Ltd—not as a lender directly authorised by the FCA.
What happened to the Whitestone Finance covered by the warnings?
The historical operation used the domain whitestonefinanceltd.co.uk and presented itself as a financial-services business. Its details included addresses in Bristol and Jersey, the telephone number 0800 680 0294, and the email address [email protected].
Those details prompted regulatory warnings:
- On 2 November 2017, the Jersey Financial Services Commission said that Whitestone Finance Ltd had never been registered or applied for registration under Jersey’s financial-services legislation. It said the operation appeared to have been set up for a fraudulent purpose.
- On 27 April 2018, the FCA warned that the business was unauthorised and targeting people in the UK. The FCA classified it as a clone firm.
A clone firm copies the name, address, regulatory information or other details of a genuine firm to appear credible. The FCA said the operation was using information associated with an authorised firm. It also warned that customers dealing with the clone would not receive the protections normally associated with an authorised business.

The JFSC separately made clear that the unauthorised operation was not connected with genuine Jersey entities at St Paul’s Gate, including White Stone Finance Limited and Deutsche Bank International Limited.
Why the “2022 review” date is misleading
The title “Whitestone Finance Ltd Review 2022” can give the impression that regulators discovered the business in 2022. They did not. The relevant warnings date from 2017 and 2018.
The widely indexed review using that title appears to have been published years earlier and relies substantively on the JFSC and FCA warnings. Its description of Whitestone as a global firm offering advisory, brokerage and execution services is a marketing description, not evidence that the operation was authorised.
For this case, the regulator records matter more than the wording of a review. The historical entity identified by those records was unauthorised and should be treated as a scam risk.

Do not confuse the warned operation with every company using the name
“Whitestone Finance Ltd” is not a unique identifier. Several UK companies have used that name or a similar one. Companies House records show:
| Company | Company number | Relevant record |
|---|---|---|
| Whitestone Finance Ltd | 11982927 | Incorporated 7 May 2019; dissolved 26 January 2021 |
| Whitestone Finance Ltd, later Whitestone Distribution Ltd | 13399199 | Incorporated 14 May 2021; renamed 1 December 2022; dissolved 22 October 2024 |
| Whitestone Finance Ltd | 15802842 | Incorporated 25 June 2024; the current record identified in the research |
The first two records cannot simply be treated as the FCA-warned clone. They have different company numbers and dates. Equally, a Companies House registration does not itself prove that a financial business is authorised to perform a regulated activity.
The current company’s record lists the following details:
- Registered name: WHITESTONE FINANCE LTD
- Company number: 15802842
- Incorporated: 25 June 2024
- Registered office: 48 Church Lees, Great Linford, Milton Keynes, MK14 5ED
- SIC code: 64999, financial intermediation not elsewhere classified
- Director: Jamie White
These details are materially different from the domain, addresses and contact details in the 2018 FCA warning. The public records reviewed do not establish that the 2024 company is the same business as the warned clone. They also do not, on their own, establish that it is reliable.
What the current Whitestone Finance website says
The current website is whitestone-finance.co.uk, which is different from the warned domain whitestonefinanceltd.co.uk. It describes the business as a commercial-finance operation working with suppliers and vehicle dealerships. It advertises finance terms of up to seven years, same-day payouts and referral commissions.
Those are claims made by the business. They are not independent evidence that customers will receive a particular rate, approval decision, payout time or level of service.
The website says Whitestone Finance Ltd is:
- an appointed representative of Crystal Business Finance Ltd;
- associated with Crystal Business Finance’s FCA reference number 653671;
- a member of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers (NACFB); and
- registered at 48 Church Lees, Great Linford, Milton Keynes.
Crystal Business Finance’s own website describes Crystal Business Finance Ltd as an FCA-authorised credit broker with FRN 653671 and says it is a broker rather than a lender.
Broker does not mean lender
The current Whitestone business should not automatically be called a lender. Its disclosures describe it as an independent asset-finance brokerage. In practical terms, that means it introduces customers to finance providers and may receive a payment or other benefit from a provider if a customer enters into an agreement.
The lender should be identified in the actual finance agreement. This distinction affects who provides the money, who makes the underwriting decision, where complaints may go and what fees or commissions may apply.
Before accepting an offer, ask for:
- the legal name of the lender;
- the total amount payable, not just the monthly instalment;
- the interest rate and whether it is fixed or variable;
- all broker, administration and documentation fees;
- any commission or other benefit paid to the broker; and
- the consequences of missed payments or early settlement.
What happens to your personal information?
The current website’s privacy policy says it may collect your name, address history, telephone number, email address, financial status and regular financial commitments. It also says it may obtain information from written, telephone or face-to-face communications.
The policy says application details may be passed to selected lenders and to credit-reference or fraud-prevention agencies. Some lenders may use automated decision-making. Anyone considering an application should therefore expect that an application could involve credit or fraud-prevention checks and potentially multiple finance providers.
The policy gives the data-protection registration number ZB713419 and lists [email protected] for privacy queries and complaints. Read the privacy notice before submitting sensitive financial information, particularly if you are unsure which lenders may receive it.
Complaints and Financial Ombudsman Service access
The current complaints policy tells customers to complain first to Whitestone Finance by email at [email protected] or by post to:
48 Church Lees
Great Linford
Milton Keynes
MK14 5ED
It also refers customers to the Financial Ombudsman Service and lists:

However, the existence of a complaints page does not guarantee that every dispute will be eligible for the Financial Ombudsman Service. Eligibility depends on the regulated activity, the relevant principal firm and the particular transaction. Keep the finance agreement, broker communications, fee disclosures and evidence of any payments if you need to complain.
How to check which Whitestone you are dealing with
- Check the domain. The FCA warning concerned
whitestonefinanceltd.co.uk. The current website iswhitestone-finance.co.uk. Similar names are not proof of common ownership. - Check the company number. Ask whether the number is 15802842, or another number, and compare it with the legal entity named in the documents.
- Verify the regulatory relationship. Search the FCA Register for Crystal Business Finance Ltd and FRN 653671. Do not turn an appointed-representative relationship into the inaccurate claim that Whitestone itself is directly FCA-authorised.
- Identify the lender. A broker may arrange finance but does not necessarily provide it. The lender’s name should appear in the agreement.
- Do not pay an unexplained upfront fee. Treat requests for payment to unlock an investment, release profits or secure a loan as a serious warning sign. Contact the firm through independently verified details before sending money or documents.
- Compare the offer. Check the total cost with other commercial-finance brokers or lenders. A fast decision or same-day payout claim should not replace a review of the contract.
Final assessment: reliable or a scam?
There are two different questions hidden in this review title.
The historical investment operation covered by the 2017–2018 warnings: avoid it. The JFSC said it was unregistered and appeared to have a fraudulent purpose. The FCA called it an unauthorised clone firm. It should be treated as a scam risk, not as a regulated broker.
The current company using company number 15802842 and the domain whitestone-finance.co.uk: the available records do not prove that it is the warned clone. It presents itself as a commercial-finance broker operating through an appointed-representative relationship with Crystal Business Finance Ltd. That is different from being a directly FCA-authorised lender, and customers should verify the principal, lender, fees and contract before proceeding.
So the accurate answer is not that every business called Whitestone Finance is fraudulent, nor that the current website has been proven safe. The evidence supports a narrower conclusion: the Whitestone operation named in the regulator warnings was unauthorised and unsafe; the separate 2024 company requires its own due diligence.
FAQ
Was Whitestone Finance Ltd warned about by the FCA?
Yes. On 27 April 2018, the FCA warned about an unauthorised operation using the name Whitestone Finance Ltd and classified it as a clone firm. The warning concerned the domain whitestonefinanceltd.co.uk.
Best Value
Was the FCA warning issued in 2022?
No. The FCA warning dates from 2018, while the Jersey Financial Services Commission issued its warning on 2 November 2017. The “Review 2022” label is misleading if it suggests the warning was new in 2022.
Is the current Whitestone Finance Ltd the same company as the warned clone?
The public records reviewed do not establish that. The current company is listed as company number 15802842, incorporated on 25 June 2024, with a different registered office and website domain from the entity named in the FCA warning.
Is Whitestone Finance Ltd directly authorised by the FCA?
The current website says it is an appointed representative of Crystal Business Finance Ltd, FRN 653671. It does not describe Whitestone Finance Ltd itself as directly FCA-authorised. Verify the relationship on the FCA Register before applying.
Is Whitestone Finance a lender?
The current business describes itself as an independent commercial or asset-finance broker. A broker introduces customers to finance providers; it does not necessarily lend the money. Check the finance agreement for the actual lender.

The current website refers customers to the Financial Ombudsman Service, but eligibility depends on the regulated activity, the principal firm and the transaction. Complain to the business first and retain all relevant documents.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: The Whitestone Finance operation identified by the FCA and JFSC in 2017–2018 was an unauthorised clone firm and should be avoided. Do not confuse it with the separate company incorporated in 2024. The current Whitestone website presents itself as a commercial-finance broker appointed by Crystal Business Finance Ltd, not as a directly authorised lender. Verify the FCA relationship, legal company number, actual lender, fees and privacy disclosures before submitting an application or paying money.
