How Integrated Platforms Could Help Singapore’s F&B Businesses

Singapore’s F&B digital push focuses on connecting systems, not merely adding apps. Here is what the national plan, new programme and operator examples mean for businesses.

Connected software can help Singapore food and beverage (F&B) businesses reduce duplicate work and coordinate orders, stock, payments and accounts. It is a practical form of support—not a guarantee of survival or profit. The case for integration is timely: a new Enterprise Singapore–UOB programme aims to help at least 200 F&B businesses move from standalone systems to integrated, AI-enabled operations over two years.

What integrated platforms mean for an F&B business

An integrated platform is not simply a collection of digital tools. It connects the work and information that pass between them, so an order, payment or stock change can flow to the relevant systems without repeated manual entry.

Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) describes a connected food-services suite spanning front-of-house functions such as digital ordering, payment, point of sale and an online shop, and back-office functions such as customer relationship management, inventory, accounting and kitchen management. The suite can also connect with logistics platforms, food-delivery services and marketplaces. IMDA’s Food Services Industry Digital Plan therefore frames integration around connected workflows, not the number of apps an operator has.

For example, a delivery-platform order that reaches the point-of-sale and kitchen systems, updates stock and is reflected in accounting is more connected than the same order being re-entered separately at each stage. The useful question is whether information moves reliably between the systems an operation actually uses.

Why integration is on Singapore’s F&B agenda

On 15 July 2026, Enterprise Singapore and UOB announced the F&B AI and Digital Integration Programme. The programme aims to support at least 200 F&B businesses over two years as they move from standalone digital systems towards integrated, AI-enabled operations. The announcement describes advisory support from UOB SME Banking, AI-enabled solutions and digital integration services, with up to 50% funding support from Enterprise Singapore. The target is a programme goal, not a count of businesses already helped; operators should check current eligibility and terms with the programme partners. Enterprise Singapore and UOB’s announcement

The policy push reflects a gap between adoption and connection. A UOB survey of Singapore F&B businesses conducted in June 2026 found that six in ten surveyed operators had most digital solutions running as standalone systems, while about one in three had yet to adopt AI tools. The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) reported those findings in a 2026 speech; they are survey results, not official administrative counts or a census of the sector. In the same survey, 80% were interested in solutions to improve operational efficiency, and 70% were keen on tools to acquire customers and deepen loyalty. MTI’s Restaurant Asia 2026 speech

MTI has characterised the business environment as one of higher manpower, rental and operating costs alongside rising customer expectations. That is the government’s description of the pressures facing operators, not a quantified estimate of costs across the sector.

What the Food Services Industry Digital Plan covers

Enterprise Singapore and IMDA refreshed the Food Services Industry Digital Plan on 15 July 2025. It brings together a digital-solutions roadmap, F&B AI use cases, cybersecurity and data-protection guidance, and a digital-skills training roadmap. The named solution categories extend beyond basic point-of-sale software to include advanced automated cooking equipment, automated document reconciliation using optical character recognition (OCR) and language models, automated end-to-end back-of-house lines, and AI-enabled self-checkout. The plan is useful as a map of possible upgrades, not a prescription to automate every task. A business can start with the handoffs that create the most friction, then assess whether a connected system fits its service model, outlets and kitchen operations.

What operator examples show—and what they do not

Kopifellas: reducing invoice collection and processing

MTI’s 2026 speech says Kopifellas integrated automated document capture with its accounting system. Staff had previously travelled to more than 20 outlets to collect hard-copy invoices. The speech reports that the change saved two full man-days a week and that AI-generated digital invoices replaced manual processing of more than 40 invoices each week. These are reported outcomes for Kopifellas, not a typical or guaranteed saving for other businesses. MTI’s account of the examples

Elsie’s Kitchen: connecting back-office workflows

Elsie’s Kitchen integrated back-office order management, invoicing, inventory and accounting. MTI’s speech reports that the company saved around 20% of staff time spent on manual data entry and repetitive work. It was also exploring AI for central-kitchen and logistics resource planning and food-safety monitoring. The reported time saving belongs to this company’s experience; it is not a sector average or a forecast of what another operator will achieve. MTI’s account of the examples

Together, the examples illustrate plausible benefits: less movement of paper, fewer repeated entries and better coordination between business functions. They do not establish a standard return on investment. Results depend on the starting workflow, implementation and how well the systems fit the operation.

How to assess whether a connected system is worth adopting

Before selecting software or automation, map the work that needs to connect and assess the whole implementation—not just the advertised features or funding support.

  1. Map the workflow. Trace a real transaction from customer order through payment, kitchen or fulfilment, stock changes and accounting. Note where staff re-enter information, reconcile mismatched records or move documents between outlets.
  2. Check the handoffs. Confirm which functions connect, how data moves between them, and whether the system is compatible with tools the business intends to keep. A suite that covers many functions may still leave a crucial handoff manual.
  3. Test operational fit. Consider the service model, outlet count, central-kitchen needs and delivery or marketplace channels. A workflow that suits one outlet may not work the same way across several locations.
  4. Plan for people and implementation. Account for setup, migration, staff training and changes to daily routines. The digital plan includes a digital-skills training roadmap because new systems depend on staff being able to use them.
  5. Review security and personal data. Ask how access is controlled, what information is stored or shared, and how the vendor supports cybersecurity and data protection. These topics are part of IMDA and Enterprise Singapore’s roadmap, not optional extras to consider only after adoption.
  6. Calculate total cost and support. Compare implementation and ongoing costs with the work the system is expected to reduce. If considering the F&B AI and Digital Integration Programme, verify current eligibility and funding terms rather than assuming that every business or purchase qualifies.
  7. Set a practical measure of success. Track a baseline—such as time spent reconciling invoices or correcting orders—and review whether the change improves that workflow. Do not treat another company’s reported savings as a forecast for your own operation.

Online sales figures do not capture every digital order

Digital ordering and “online sales” are not interchangeable measures. Singapore Department of Statistics (SingStat) defines online F&B sales as goods ordered remotely where the order, price and terms are agreed online through a company website, a third-party site or an app, whether the customer receives delivery or collects the goods. Its definition excludes telephone and fax orders, in-premise kiosk or QR orders, and emails or messages manually typed by staff. SingStat’s retail-trade definitions and data

As a result, online-sales statistics should not be used as a proxy for all digital ordering. They measure a defined category of remote transactions, not every way technology may be involved in an F&B sale.
