Is TopTrade a legitimate broker?
There is no current, verifiable basis for describing TopTrade as an active or regulated broker. The primary domain no longer presents a financial-services website. It leads to a GoDaddy marketplace page offering the domain for sale, rather than to a homepage, login screen, registration form, or trading terminal.

The regulatory record makes the situation more serious:
- Austria’s Financial Market Authority warned on March 10, 2022, against TopTrade Group or Widdershins Group Ltd. The warning said the provider was not authorized to conduct banking transactions in Austria that required a license.
- The Bank of Russia warning list identifies TopTradeGroup and Widdershins Group LTD as showing characteristics of an illegal professional participant in the securities market. Its record includes several associated domains, including
toptrade.group,client.toptrade.trade, andwebtrader.toptrade.trade. - A CNMV warning dated August 2, 2021 stated that Widdershins Group Ltd was not authorized to provide specified investment services in Spain.
These notices do not independently resolve every customer complaint. They do establish that the named entity lacked the relevant authorization in the jurisdictions identified by those authorities. A company-registration claim in an offshore jurisdiction is not a substitute for a financial-services license.
Historical pros: what TopTrade claimed to offer
There are no current broker advantages that can be independently verified. Older third-party pages attributed several features to TopTrade Group:
- Web-based trading access
- Forex, indices, commodities, and cryptocurrencies
- MetaTrader 4 or a proprietary web platform
- Low initial deposits
Those are historical descriptions, not recommendations. One older review reported a $250 minimum deposit and leverage up to 1:100. Another page reported a $50 minimum deposit. These figures cannot be reconciled with a live account-opening flow because no such flow is currently available.

There is also a separate historical review for toptrade.fm that mentions a $200 minimum deposit, leverage up to 1:500, and a 2-pip spread. That page concerns a different domain and corporate setup, so it should not be used as evidence about TopTrade Group.

Likewise, a valid HTTPS certificate is not a meaningful advantage here. SSL encrypts data travelling between a browser and a website. It does not prove that a broker is licensed, solvent, holds client money separately, or processes withdrawals. ScamAdviser recorded valid SSL for the domain but also described it as parked and gave it a trust score of zero.
TopTrade’s main disadvantages
1. There is no working broker service to test
A broker review normally checks the registration process, account types, platform, spreads, commissions, deposit methods, withdrawal rules, and customer support. None of those checks can currently be completed for TopTrade Group.
Specifically, there is no live evidence for:
- An “Open Account” or registration path
- A client login or account dashboard
- Deposit and withdrawal buttons
- A KYC or identity-verification workflow
- A trade ticket or platform version
- Current spreads, commissions, leverage, or margin rules
- A current complaints or support process
Any article that supplies exact current menu labels or platform instructions is relying on old screenshots, cached pages, or a different TopTrade-branded website.
2. Multiple regulators issued warnings
The warnings from Austria, Russia, and Spain are the clearest independently verifiable facts in the available record. They outweigh marketing statements, website badges, and positive testimonials.
Historical material also referred to a PIPSEC-related badge displayed by TopTrade. That should not be treated as proof of regulation. The badge reportedly linked to another company, and PIPSEC was described as a non-government organization rather than a national financial regulator. A genuine license should be checked directly in the issuing authority’s register using the exact legal entity name and license number.

3. Basic trading terms are contradictory or unavailable
Historical sources disagree on the minimum deposit, leverage, and even which TopTrade entity they are describing. The following figures should therefore not be presented as current:

Available historical user reports associated with TopTrade describe several recurring problems:
- Withdrawals allegedly delayed or refused
- Requests for another deposit before funds could be released
- Demands for supposed taxes, security deposits, or processing fees
- Persistent calls or messages from account managers
- Loss of contact after payment
- A platform becoming unavailable during a withdrawal dispute
These are complaints and testimonials, not independently adjudicated findings. They should be described as reported experiences rather than proven facts about every customer. However, asking a customer to pay more money to unlock an apparent profit or withdrawal is a major warning sign. The Federal Trade Commission warns that fake investment accounts may display supposed profits and then block withdrawals unless the victim pays additional fees. It also warns that recovery firms may demand an upfront tax, processing fee, or retainer.
Claims about TopTrade that should be treated cautiously
“TopTrade is an active broker.”
That is outdated for the toptrade.group entity. The domain currently redirects to a domain-sale page, and no trading service is available to verify.

“TopTrade is regulated because it was registered in Dominica.”
Corporate registration and financial authorization are different things. The Austrian FMA referred to Widdershins Group Ltd as apparently registered in Dominica but still warned that it was not authorized for the relevant activity in Austria.
“A regulator badge proves the company is licensed.”
It does not. Check the regulator’s own database, not a badge displayed on a broker’s website. Match the legal entity, website, license number, permitted services, and status.
“The minimum deposit is definitely $50, $200, or $250.”
None of these figures can be verified as a current TopTrade Group term. Some originate from different historical sources, and at least one belongs to the separate toptrade.fm name.
“Positive reviews prove the broker was safe.”
Reviews are weak evidence when they conflict with regulator records and the service cannot be tested. The FTC notes that investment scammers may fabricate testimonials or create the appearance of successful customers. Evidence of a real license, audited financial information, segregated client money, and completed withdrawals matters more than star ratings.

- Do not send another payment. Do not pay a supposed tax, insurance charge, verification deposit, release fee, or recovery fee to unlock a withdrawal.
- Save evidence. Keep emails, chat logs, phone numbers, wallet addresses, bank details, payment receipts, screenshots, and the dates and amounts of each transfer.
- Contact the payment provider quickly. Ask your bank, card issuer, wire provider, or cryptocurrency exchange whether a recall, chargeback, fraud report, or account freeze is possible. Recovery is not guaranteed, but delay reduces the available options.
- Report the matter. Contact your national financial regulator and law-enforcement or cybercrime reporting service. Include the legal name Widdershins Group Ltd and every domain used in the approach.
- Be wary of recovery agents. Someone who contacts you promising to recover the money for an upfront payment may be running a second scam.
How TopTrade compares with a broker worth considering
A safer broker should have a live, independently verifiable license; a functioning website and client portal; clearly published costs; identifiable custody arrangements; a documented complaints process; and a regulator-backed compensation or dispute framework where applicable. Those checks do not eliminate investment risk, but they provide basic accountability.

TopTrade Group currently fails the first practical test: there is no operating service to inspect. Combined with the official warnings and historical withdrawal complaints, the risk is not justified by the claimed access to forex, CFDs, cryptocurrencies, or other markets.

The current withdrawal process cannot be tested because the broker website is parked. If someone asks you to pay more money before releasing funds, do not pay; document the demand and contact your payment provider and regulator.
Is TopTrade the same as toptrade.fm or TopTrade500?

The Bottom Line
TopTrade Group should be avoided. Its main domain is parked, its current trading conditions and client protections cannot be verified, and regulators in Austria, Russia, and Spain published unauthorized-firm warnings involving the associated entity.
