Trade245 has presented itself as a South African forex and CFD broker linked to Red Pine Capital (Pty) Ltd, an entity associated with FSCA Financial Services Provider licence number 46044. That does not, by itself, prove that every Trade245 account is currently served by that entity or receives the protections of a fully regulated retail broker.

The important check is not the brand name on the website. It is the legal entity in the client agreement, whether that entity appears on the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) register, and whether the licence covers the services being offered.

Trade245 regulation at a glance

Item What to check
Broker brand Trade245
Reported South African operator Red Pine Capital (Pty) Ltd
Reported regulator Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), South Africa
Reported FSP number 46044
Key limitation A brand’s marketing claims do not establish which entity holds a client’s account or what protections apply.

These details should be treated as identification clues, not a substitute for checking the live FSCA register. Broker ownership, permissions, websites and licence status can change.

Is Trade245 an FSCA-regulated broker?

Trade245 has commonly been identified with Red Pine Capital (Pty) Ltd, which has been associated with South African FSP number 46044. If that is the entity named in your account documents and the FSCA register shows the licence as active with permission relevant to the products offered, there is a regulatory connection to South Africa.

That answer is narrower than saying “Trade245 is fully regulated.” An FSP licence is attached to a legal entity and its approved activities. It does not automatically cover:

  • every website using the Trade245 name;
  • every overseas customer;
  • every product displayed on the platform;
  • every payment company used for deposits; or
  • every introducing broker or affiliate promoting the service.

CFDs and leveraged forex products also remain high-risk even when offered by an authorised firm. Regulation can impose conduct, reporting and client-money obligations, but it cannot prevent trading losses or guarantee that a client will recover money after a dispute or insolvency.

How to check the licence yourself

  1. Go to the official FSCA website.
  2. Open the section for regulated entities or FSP search.
  3. Search for Red Pine Capital (Pty) Ltd, then search separately for 46044.
  4. Compare the register’s legal name, status, contact details and authorised activities with the broker’s account-opening documents.
  5. Check the website and telephone number shown by the regulator, rather than relying on a link or contact detail supplied by a salesperson.

If the register does not return the expected firm, shows a different licence holder, or lists no permission related to the proposed service, pause before sending funds. Ask Trade245 to explain the discrepancy in writing; do not accept a screenshot of a certificate as proof of current authorisation.

Which entity will hold the account?

Before completing registration, download the client agreement and look for the contracting party. It should state:

  • User-friendly buttons that are comfortable, durable, and well marked for easy use by all ages, including kids

  • its incorporation country;
  • its regulatory authority and licence number;
  • the governing law and court or dispute-resolution process;
  • how client money is held; and
  • the procedure for withdrawals and complaints.

If the agreement names an offshore company rather than the South African FSP, the FSCA licence associated with Red Pine Capital may not apply to your account. A familiar brand, South African telephone number or local payment method does not change the contracting entity.

What protection does regulation provide?

South African financial regulation may give clients routes for complaints and supervisory oversight, but it should not be confused with a bank deposit guarantee. A regulator does not normally promise to reimburse ordinary trading losses, and a licence does not eliminate counterparty risk.

Protection can also vary by client classification. A retail client may receive protections that are not available, or are reduced, for a professional or institutional client. Read the risk disclosure and classification terms before accepting the account.

Warning signs to check before depositing

  1. Entity mismatch: the website says one company, while the agreement or bank details name another.
  2. Pressure to deposit: a representative demands an immediate payment or promises guaranteed returns.
  3. Withdrawal fees: the broker demands extra tax, insurance or “unlocking” money before releasing funds.
  4. Unverified payment recipient: deposits must be made to a personal account, cryptocurrency wallet or unrelated company.
  5. Licence overclaiming: marketing cites “regulated” without naming the regulator, legal entity and licence number.
  6. Unrealistic returns: profits are described as fixed, risk-free or assured.
  7. Blocked withdrawals: support repeatedly adds new verification steps after a withdrawal request.

None of these points alone proves fraud, but several together justify stopping payments and independently contacting the regulator.

Is Trade245 safe?

There is no single yes-or-no answer based only on the brand. The reported FSCA connection is a positive point if it is current, genuine and applicable to the account you are opening. It is not enough to establish that Trade245 is safe for every customer.

Use a small test deposit only if the legal and regulatory checks are satisfactory, and test a withdrawal before committing more capital. Keep copies of the agreement, deposit confirmations, trade history, emails and withdrawal requests. Never borrow money to trade leveraged CFDs.

Practical verdict

Trade245 may have a regulated South African connection through Red Pine Capital (Pty) Ltd and FSP number 46044, but prospective clients should verify that information on the current FSCA register. The decisive question is which legal entity contracts with you. If it is an offshore or different company, the reported South African licence may not protect the account.

Do not describe Trade245 simply as “fully regulated” until the live register, client agreement, website and payment instructions all match.

Proceed cautiously. The South African licence associated with Red Pine Capital may not apply to an account contracted with a separate offshore company. Confirm the applicable regulator and protections before depositing.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Trade245 has been linked to South African FSP holder Red Pine Capital (Pty) Ltd, licence 46044, but that claim must be checked against the current FSCA register. Regulation applies to a specific legal entity, not automatically to the brand or all international customers. Verify the entity in the client agreement before funding an account.
