Bling Capital raised $270 million for its fourth flagship fund, according to a TechCrunch report published November 19, 2024. About half was earmarked for an opportunity fund to make follow-on investments in portfolio companies the firm viewed as winners; the report did not specify an exact split.

How much did Bling Capital raise?

TechCrunch reported that Bling Capital raised $270 million for its fourth flagship fund. The figure was attributed to general partner Kyle Lui in the November 19, 2024 article. It is a publication-time report, not confirmation of the fund’s current or final status. Read the TechCrunch report.

How the fund was allocated

About half of the $270 million was earmarked for an opportunity fund. Bling intended to use that pool for follow-on investments in portfolio companies it considered winners. TechCrunch reported only an approximate share, so an exact dollar allocation cannot be established from the article.

How it compares with Bling’s prior fund

Fund Reported total Reported structure
Fourth flagship fund $270 million, reported by TechCrunch in November 2024 About half earmarked for an opportunity fund; exact split not stated
Preceding fund $212 million, reported by TechCrunch in November 2024 Nearly even division between a seed fund and an opportunity fund

In the comparison presented in the 2024 report, the fourth fund was larger than its predecessor, while retaining a similar near-even structure. The predecessor had launched about two years earlier, according to that report. These figures do not establish later fundraising activity or fund performance.

What Bling Capital does

Bling Capital is a seed-stage venture firm founded in 2018 by Ben Ling. TechCrunch described Ling as a former general partner at Khosla Ventures who had held executive roles at Google, YouTube and Facebook.

The article said Bling had invested in 170 companies during its first six years. It also reported Ling’s estimate of about 19 unicorns and Lui’s figure of at least seven. The article did not define how the unicorn counts were calculated; they are figures attributed to the named people in 2024, not current independently verified totals.

What the Product Council does

Bling’s Product Council is a network of leaders at major technology companies who advise the firm’s startups. The 2024 report said the network was adding advisors from Notion, OpenAI, Scale AI and Stripe, but did not name the individual advisors.

What the report does not establish

  • Whether Fund IV later completed a final close or changed its allocation.
  • The identities of the fund’s investors, its detailed investment terms or its performance.
  • Current portfolio-company counts, unicorn counts or Product Council membership.
