The best BetOnline alternative is a sportsbook that is licensed and available where you live—not a brand that happens to operate in another state. Check your state regulator’s current list of approved operators and the sportsbook’s own location rules before signing up. FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, and Caesars are examples listed by regulators in certain jurisdictions, not services guaranteed to be legal or available nationwide.
Why your location comes first
Sportsbook licensing and availability are jurisdiction-specific. A brand appearing on one state’s list does not establish that it can legally serve customers in another state. Start with your own regulator’s current licensee list, then confirm that the operator accepts customers in your location. DraftKings, for example, directs users to its sports betting legal availability page; check that alongside your regulator’s information because coverage can change.
For a concrete example of the difference between jurisdictions, Indiana’s Gaming Commission lists BetMGM, Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel with legal entity and platform information. Its page is identified as current as of July 27, 2026. North Carolina and Pennsylvania maintain separate lists of approved or licensed operators, including some of these brands. These lists describe their respective jurisdictions; they are not a national ranking or a blanket approval for every location.

What Tennessee says about BetOnline
The Tennessee Sports Wagering Council lists BetOnline among names it identifies as offshore, illegal sportsbooks. The Council’s statement says: “Offshore, illegal sportsbooks operate under many names, including: BetAnySports, BetOnline, BetUS, Bookmaker, Bovada, BUSR, Everygame, JazzSports, LowVig, MyBookie, Sportsbetting.ag, and Xbet.” This is the Tennessee regulator’s statement in its jurisdiction; it should not be read as a nationwide legal determination.

See the Council’s Approved Licensees & Registrants page for its current information. For your own location, rely on the relevant regulator rather than assuming Tennessee’s classification applies everywhere.
How to compare legal alternatives
Once you have narrowed the options to operators permitted where you live, compare their current terms directly. The regulator lists establish licensing status in a particular jurisdiction, but they do not establish which operator has the best odds, payouts, promotions, or service.

- Payments and withdrawals: Check the available methods, processing times, limits, and any fees in the operator’s current terms.
- Sports and bet types: Confirm that the sports and markets you use are offered in your location.
- Support and account rules: Review support channels, identity-verification requirements, and rules for account limits or closures.
These factors help distinguish services after legality is established; they do not substitute for checking the license and location rules.

- Find your state or jurisdiction’s gaming regulator and open its current sportsbook licensee or approved-operator list.
- Confirm the operator and, where shown, the relevant legal entity or platform on that list.
- Open the sportsbook’s own location or legal-availability page and verify that it accepts customers where you are.
- Read the current account, payment, promotion, and wagering terms before depositing funds.
If the regulator and operator information do not clearly establish availability, do not treat the service as an approved alternative until you can verify its status with the regulator.
