When was Black Friday 2025 in the UK?
Black Friday was Friday 28 November 2025, and Cyber Monday was Monday 1 December 2025. Retailers did not limit their promotions to those dates: some started weeks earlier and ran through Cyber Monday or into December.

Currys also announced an “Our Lowest Ever Price” pledge for its 2025 Black Friday event. That was Currys’ own claim, not independent confirmation that every item was at its lowest price. Currys’ Black Friday page described the pledge.
What kinds of products featured in 2025 deal coverage?
Retailer announcements and roundups covered a broad mix rather than a single standout category. Amazon said its event included products from brands such as Ninja, Philips, PlayStation, ghd, Levi’s and Oral-B. Its 2025 coverage also featured devices such as Kindle Colorsoft, Fire TV Stick 4K Max and Ring Battery Video Doorbell, alongside home and kitchen products, beauty, apparel, books and everyday essentials. These are examples of what appeared in 2025 coverage; they are not evidence of current availability or prices.
How can you tell whether a Black Friday discount is worthwhile?
A sale label or large percentage off is not enough to establish that a price is unusually low. Which? tracked 175 home, tech and health appliances sold by Amazon, AO, Argos, Boots, Currys, John Lewis, Richer Sounds and Very from May 2024 to May 2025, then compared prices with the four-week period from 15 November to 12 December 2024. It found that 83% of the products were cheaper or the same price at least once outside that Black Friday period. That finding applies to Which?’s sample and comparison window, not every retailer or deal. Which?’s price analysis explains its results.
Use a like-for-like price check
- Match the exact model and specification. Similar product names can conceal different versions, capacities or included accessories.
- Compare the offer with the item’s own price history and prices from other sellers; do not rely only on the stated saving against a reference price.
- Include delivery charges in the comparison and check whether the item is in stock for the delivery date you need.
- Read the warranty and returns conditions before buying, especially if a low price changes the retailer’s usual terms.
- Check the detail of any price promise: which products qualify, which competitors count, the claim deadline and whether the remedy is a refund, voucher or something else.
What did retailer price promises actually cover?
Retailer promises were conditional and differed by store. Argos said its Price Guarantee applied only where a product carried the separate Price Guarantee badge; its terms specified a deadline and a voucher remedy. John Lewis said a customer who found the same item for less at one of 25 listed competitors within seven days could receive the difference, subject to its terms. Neither statement should be read as a storewide guarantee covering every product or every rival price.

John Lewis’s E-commerce & Digital Director, Steve Masterton, described the retailer’s aim as making festive spending go further and referred to its Never Knowingly Undersold commitment. That was a promotional statement; the practical scope of the price match is determined by the retailer’s published conditions.
