The BPSC Assistant Engineer recruitment advertised in 2024 is no longer a current opening. The written exam for Bihar’s Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) was held on 18–19 December 2024, and the BPSC Exam Calendar marks its result as “Published” on 7 August 2025. Candidates seeking individual marks should use BPSC’s official result or marksheet system; the calendar reports the result status, not a candidate’s score.
What the 2024 BPSC Assistant Engineer recruitment covered
Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) advertised Assistant Engineer posts in the state’s Public Health Engineering Department under Advertisement No. 32/2024 for Civil Engineering and Advertisement No. 33/2024 for Mechanical Engineering. The notices advertised 118 posts in total:
- Civil: 113 posts.
- Mechanical: 5 posts.
The vacancy figures are for this recruitment only. They do not establish the number of applicants, a branch-wise cutoff, or an individual candidate’s likelihood of selection.
Exam dates and result status
BPSC’s 23 July 2024 exam calendar initially scheduled the written exam for 20–22 September 2024. That schedule was deferred. A December 2024 report by Scroll said the revised dates were 18–19 December 2024; BPSC’s current exam calendar also lists those dates. The exam therefore took place in December, not September.

The BPSC Exam Calendar lists the result date as 7 August 2025 and gives the status label “Published” for Advertisement Nos. 32/2024 to 33/2024. That label is the calendar’s recruitment-level status; the calendar row does not give individual marks, merit-list position, or appointment status.
To check personal marks or result details, go to BPSC’s official website and use its result or marksheet system. Search by the relevant advertisement number and follow the instructions on the official page. Do not treat the calendar’s “Published” label as confirmation of any individual result.

Eligibility stated in the advertisement
The 2024 notice set out branch-specific engineering qualifications and age limits for that recruitment. These are historical terms, not current eligibility rules for a future BPSC vacancy.
Engineering qualification
The notice required a degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, as applicable, from an Indian university or an AICTE-approved institute. For qualifying degrees from deemed universities, it specified regular technical courses rather than distance education. The notice also described an Institution of Engineers qualification route subject to its stated conditions; candidates relying on that route should consult the full advertisement rather than assume that every equivalent qualification was accepted.

Age limits
The minimum age was 21 as of 1 August 2024. The notice set the following maximum ages for the listed categories:
- Unreserved men: 37.
- Unreserved women and BC/EBC men and women: 40.
- SC/ST men and women: 42.
The notice also included additional provisions for eligible categories and contract service. The figures above are tied to the 1 August 2024 cutoff and should not be used to assess eligibility for another recruitment.

Advertised pay
The notice described the post at Level 9, Grade Pay 5400, using the term “unrevised.” This is the pay wording in the 2024 advertisement, not a statement of current take-home pay, deductions, or allowances.
Written exam and selection format
The written examination had six objective papers: four compulsory papers and two optional papers. The optional papers were branch-specific.
Best Value
| Paper group | Papers |
|---|---|
| Compulsory | General English, General Hindi, General Studies, and General Engineering Science |
| Optional | Two papers, with Civil and Mechanical options |
General English and General Hindi were qualifying papers. Candidates needed at least 30 marks in each before the remaining papers were evaluated.
The notice described a selection score based on written-exam performance worth 75 points and, for eligible candidates with qualifying contract Assistant Engineer service, up to 25 additional points. Contract-service points were calculated at five points for each full year, proportionately for a partial year, up to the cap. The service and documentation conditions in the notice applied; this preference was not available to every candidate.

| Branch | Relevant qualification | Optional papers | Advertised posts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Civil | Civil Engineering degree, subject to the notice’s accepted qualification routes | Civil | 113 |
| Mechanical | Mechanical Engineering degree, subject to the notice’s accepted qualification routes | Mechanical | 5 |
The smaller Mechanical vacancy count alone does not show which branch was more competitive. Applicant numbers and comparable branch-wise cutoff information are not established by the calendar figures.
Quick Recap
What candidates should verify now
- For personal marks or result details, use BPSC’s official result or marksheet service rather than relying on the calendar status.
- For qualification, age-relaxation, contract-service, or document questions, consult the complete archived advertisement and any applicable BPSC clarification. The detailed advertisement text is available in a PDF mirror, so candidates with consequential eligibility questions should verify the official notice.
- Do not use the 2024 age cutoff or terms as rules for a later recruitment; a future notice may set different conditions and dates.
