El 14 de febrero de 2025, BBVA anunció una actualización de Blue, su asistente virtual integrado en la aplicación, para ofrecer información financiera personalizada y permitir algunas operaciones habituales de cuentas y tarjetas mediante conversaciones en lenguaje natural. El banco dijo que el despliegue en España comenzaría el 20 de febrero de 2025 y se ampliaría progresivamente; el anuncio no fijó una fecha de finalización.
Qué permite hacer Blue según el anuncio de BBVA
BBVA presentó Blue como una función de la app bancaria, no como un asistente general. La actualización se basaba, según el banco, en tecnologías de inteligencia artificial generativa y modelos extensos de lenguaje (LLM), capaces de interpretar y generar lenguaje. El asistente incorporaría contexto a la conversación y tendría en cuenta interacciones anteriores y operaciones habituales del cliente.
En el lanzamiento, BBVA describió hasta 150 consultas y operaciones disponibles, con capacidad para responder a más de 3.000 preguntas. Son cifras comunicadas por el banco en 2025, no resultados de una evaluación independiente ni cifras confirmadas para el servicio actual. El anuncio no detalló una lista exhaustiva de gestiones concretas.
El ámbito anunciado se limitaba a información y operaciones bancarias relacionadas con BBVA. El asistente podía conservar el hilo de la conversación si el cliente introducía otra gestión durante la interacción.

Cómo se planteó el despliegue en España
BBVA anunció que el despliegue comenzaría el 20 de febrero de 2025 y se ampliaría progresivamente hasta alcanzar, según el banco, a todos los clientes. La comunicación no especificó cuándo terminaría esa expansión. La página actual de BBVA España sigue presentando Blue como un asistente con IA dentro de la zona privada de la app, pero no confirma que todas las funciones descritas en 2025 estén disponibles hoy ni que sigan sin cambios. Cancelar una operación o pedir ayuda humana
BBVA afirmó que, durante la interacción, el cliente podía cancelar la operación en curso o solicitar la asistencia de un gestor humano en cualquier momento. Esa posibilidad forma parte de lo anunciado por el banco en febrero de 2025; las fuentes disponibles no confirman si el control y las opciones actuales son idénticos.

Qué dijo BBVA sobre los datos y las salvaguardas
El banco afirmó que aplicó validaciones y guardarraíles para mantener las respuestas alineadas con sus requisitos comerciales, reputacionales y legales. También declaró que la información privada del cliente se utilizaría como contexto durante la conversación activa, “sin ser almacenada ni utilizada fuera de los entornos de BBVA”. Son declaraciones corporativas del anuncio, no una auditoría independiente de la arquitectura, del cumplimiento o de las prácticas actuales.
No confundir Blue con el asistente interno para gestores
El mismo anuncio mencionó otra herramienta de IA, destinada a gestores de oficinas de BBVA. Según el banco, ese asistente interno tenía más de 30.000 referencias sobre productos y servicios, actualizadas a diario, y estaba disponible entonces para más de cien gestores. No era Blue ni una función dirigida a clientes.

La página actual de la app de BBVA mantiene a Blue en su descripción y también menciona otras prestaciones de IA, como la creación de imágenes para personalizar tarjetas digitales. Esto confirma que Blue sigue figurando en la presentación del producto, pero no permite determinar por sí solo qué operaciones concretas están habilitadas actualmente, si el despliegue llegó a todos los clientes ni si continúan las condiciones de privacidad y los controles comunicados en 2025.
