The total included 3 Principal posts as well as 9 PGT, 31 TGT and 4 PRT posts. Banaras Hindu University’s revised notice set July 12, 2024, at 5 p.m. for online submission and fee payment, and July 17, 2024, at 5 p.m. for the downloaded application and enclosures. These are historical dates, not an open call to apply.
What the 47 vacancies covered
Advertisement No. 24/2023-2024 covered teaching and school leadership positions at Central Hindu Boys’ School, Central Hindu Girls’ School and Shri Ranveer Sanskrit Vidyalaya, all under BHU. The advertised total was:

The headline figure of 47 includes the three Principal vacancies, even though it names only TGT, PGT and PRT. These are the advertised counts and pay ranges in BHU’s 2024 notice; the notice reserved BHU’s right to withdraw posts and cautioned that counts could change. The figures are not an update of later pay revisions. Read the BHU advertisement.
What the deadlines were—and what is known about a later update
BHU’s revised notice, dated June 13, 2024, set the online application and fee-payment deadline at July 12, 2024, by 5 p.m. It required the downloaded form with enclosures by July 17, 2024, by 5 p.m. The notice states: “Online mode of submission of application form shall be essential followed by submission of downloaded hardcopy with all enclosures.”

A separate Scroll report published July 19 said the earlier deadline had been July 12 and indicated a later closing day. The available BHU notice establishes the original dates; the later date is reported by Scroll, and an official BHU extension notice was not located. Scroll’s July 12 report and its July 19 report provide that coverage. Neither report changes the present status: the 2024 recruitment is closed.
Eligibility depended on the post and subject
The notice set distinct qualifications, subject combinations, language requirements and age limits by post code. A general teaching qualification is not enough to determine eligibility; candidates would have needed to check the specific post code in the official advertisement.

PGT
For most listed PGT subjects, the notice called for a relevant postgraduate qualification or a specified integrated NCERT course, a B.Ed. or equivalent from an NCTE-approved institution, and proficiency in the designated teaching languages. The general maximum age was 40. PGT Physical Education had separate criteria, so its requirements should be checked independently in the notice.
Standard TGT
Standard TGT routes required either a relevant bachelor’s degree or a four-year integrated NCERT course, a B.Ed. or equivalent, CTET, and proficiency in the specified teaching languages. Required degree subjects varied by TGT subject; the general maximum age was 35. The notice set different qualification pathways for music and physical education posts.

PRT
For PRT, the stated routes included senior secondary education with an accepted two-year elementary education diploma, a four-year B.El.Ed., or a special education diploma. CTET and specified teaching-language proficiency were also required. The listed general maximum age was 30, subject to applicable relaxations.
The notice explicitly required CTET for standard TGT posts and PRT. Because music and physical education had distinct qualification rules, applicants needed to confirm the particular post code rather than assume that every TGT pathway was identical.

How applications and fees were handled in 2024
The notice required online submission followed by delivery of the downloaded hard copy and enclosures. It also said an incomplete application could be rejected and that applicants could not edit a form after final online submission. These procedural details describe the expired 2024 recruitment, not a current application opportunity.
- Register through the BHU Recruitment and Assessment Cell portal and complete the electronic application.
- Submit a separate application for each position sought.
- Upload the required photograph, signature and supporting documents.
- Pay the applicable fee online, if required, using internet banking, debit card, credit card or UPI.
- Download the completed form and submit it with enclosures by the notice’s printed hard-copy deadline.
The notice listed these 2024 fees:
