What were the eligibility requirements?
Age limits
The minimum age stated in the reproduced notice was 22 years. Upper limits were calculated as of August 1, 2023 and varied by category:
- Unreserved men: 37 years.
- Unreserved women and BC/EBC applicants: 40 years.
- SC/ST applicants: 42 years.
The notice provided additional age-relaxation rules. These figures alone do not establish an individual applicant’s eligibility: the notice and applicable relaxation provisions must be read together.

Education and experience
The notification required an eligible engineering degree and an MTech or equivalent special qualification. It specified that technical degrees obtained through distance education did not meet the degree conditions. Applicants needed to match their degree and specialization to the notification’s full qualification terms.
Work or teaching experience was desirable, not a mandatory qualification. The notice described experience as one factor that could add marks in the merit process, alongside educational qualification, special qualification and interview performance.

What was the application fee?
Scroll’s April 16, 2024 report stated that the fee was Rs 200 for SC/ST, female and PWD applicants, and Rs 750 for applicants in other categories. These are the amounts reported for that 2024 application cycle, not current application fees.
What were the pay and selection process?
The reproduced notification listed Pay Level 9, with entry pay of Rs 53,100. Selection comprised a written examination and an interview. The notification also described merit scoring that took account of educational qualification, special qualification, work or teaching experience, and interview performance.

The written examination was one objective paper lasting three hours, with 150 questions. The notification specified a one-quarter-mark deduction for each wrong answer.

The stated penalty was one-quarter mark per incorrect answer. For candidates reviewing the old notice, the syllabus reference is specifically to the General Engineering Science syllabus used by BPSC for those Assistant Engineer examinations.

Is the later BPSC Vice Principal notice the same recruitment?
No. BPSC’s examination calendar dated February 17, 2026 lists Advertisement No. 40/2025 for 50 Vice Principal and equivalent ITI posts. That is a separate recruitment cycle; it did not reopen the 76-post 2024 application window. Check BPSC’s official site for current notices and recruitment status.
