Azra Games announced a $42.7 million Series A on October 15, 2024, led by Pantera Capital, with a16z crypto, A16Z GAMES, and NFX participating. The company said the round brought its total funding to $68.3 million. At the time, the money was intended to accelerate development of Project Legends and expand the studio, including its AI-focused R&D team, Azra Labs. Azra later introduced a dark-fantasy RPG called UnGodly. Its current guidance targets mass-scale mobile availability in 2026, but does not confirm that UnGodly includes Web3 features.

The company said it would use the proceeds to accelerate studio growth and development of Project Legends, then its flagship game, while expanding Azra Labs. Azra described the latter as a small R&D team exploring how AI could accelerate development of AAA mobile content. These were stated plans for the funding, not evidence that a particular game or AI feature has shipped.
What was Project Legends, and what was the Web3 connection?
Project Legends was the name Azra used for its flagship project when it announced the financing. In the funding announcement, CEO Mark Otero described a vision for mobile RPGs with open worlds, over-the-shoulder cameras, real-time battles, and extended player-versus-environment campaigns. That was his ambition for the genre, not a verified feature list for a released game.

Blockchain was part of the project’s historical framing, but Azra said gameplay should come first. In a 2022 company-authored article, it presented blockchain as a way to enhance game experiences. In an October 2024 interview with GamesBeat, Otero said the studio’s philosophy was to build a great RPG first and then use digital technologies, including Web3, behind the scenes to enhance the player experience. What is Azra Games making now?
Azra later announced UnGodly, describing it as a dark-fantasy, free-to-play character-collector RPG. The announcement of UnGodly establishes its public positioning; it does not establish that the game is a renamed Project Legends. The sources reviewed do not say whether Project Legends was formally renamed, cancelled, or continued internally under another name.

Nor do the current game-status sources confirm Web3 features in UnGodly. The blockchain discussion belongs to the earlier Project Legends-era framing. It should not be treated as a current UnGodly feature unless Azra confirms it.
