Apple Card Savings APY: Latest Reports Say It Rose to 3.50%

Reports describe a September increase in Apple Card Savings APY, while Apple’s public pages still show earlier 3.40% figures. Here’s how to verify your account’s rate and understand the issuer transition.

The latest available reports say Apple Card Savings APY rose to 3.50% on September 22, 2026—not that it went down again. But Apple’s public pages still show earlier figures of 3.40%, so the exact current rate is unclear from public sources. Apple says account holders can check their APY in Wallet.

What is the Apple Card Savings APY now?

As of October 7, 2026, the available figures conflict. Apple’s Savings page lists 3.40% APY as of June 4, while its Benefits page footnote lists 3.40% as of September 4. Two reports published September 23 say the APY had increased to 3.50% on September 22. Those reports are not an Apple-issued rate notice, and the dated Apple figures do not confirm the later change.

Source and date Published APY figure What it establishes
Apple Savings page, as of June 4, 2026 3.40% Apple’s page figure on that stated date; it does not establish the rate on October 7.
Apple Benefits page footnote, as of September 4, 2026 3.40% A later dated Apple figure, still preceding the reported September 22 change.
9to5Mac, September 23, 2026 3.50% Reports an increase from 3.40%.
AppleInsider, September 23, 2026 3.50% Reports that the increase took effect September 22.

For your account’s current rate, open Wallet and check Apple Card Savings. Apple Support identifies Wallet as the place account holders can view their APY: Apple Support: Set up and use Savings. If the figure shown there differs from an older web page or news report, the Wallet display is the relevant figure for your account.

Why the “goes down again” premise is outdated

AppleInsider reported two earlier 2026 reductions: from 3.65% to 3.50% in April, then from 3.50% to 3.40% in June. Its September report describes a subsequent increase to 3.50%. That sequence means the headline’s premise of another cut does not match the latest reported change.

The account’s APY is variable. Apple’s Savings page says, “APY may change at any time before or after account is opened.” A published rate is therefore a snapshot, not a promise that the same return will continue. Earnings depend on the rate in effect over time and the balance held; a single headline APY is not enough to calculate what a particular account will earn.

Who provides the account, and what changed with Apple Card?

Apple identifies Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch, as the provider of Apple Card Savings and says the account is Member FDIC. Eligibility and maximum-balance limits apply; check Apple’s account terms for details. Apple says withdrawals to an external bank typically take 1–3 business days.

Separately, Goldman Sachs announced on January 7, 2026, that it had agreed to transition the Apple Card program and associated accounts to Chase. Apple said more details would be shared as the transition date approached. Those announcements do not establish that the transition had been completed by October 7, or that the Savings account provider had already changed. The announced card-program transition is not evidence of a change to the Savings APY.

How to compare the rate with another savings account

If you are considering an alternative, compare the terms that determine whether its advertised APY is useful to you—not just the largest number on a page:

  • APY and date: Record the rate and when the institution says it applies. Variable rates can change.
  • Eligibility: Check who can open the account and whether other account or card requirements apply.
  • Balance limits: Look for minimums, maximums, and any rate tiers.
  • Access to funds: Confirm withdrawal methods and expected transfer timing.
  • Account provider: Identify the financial institution actually providing the deposit account and review its disclosures.

Because the public Apple figures and later reports do not align, compare alternatives against the APY currently shown in your Wallet account rather than assuming either 3.40% or 3.50% applies to you.
