The April 3 change was in 2024: Apple Savings’ APY reportedly fell from 4.5% to 4.4%, its first decrease. That is a historical rate, not today’s. Apple’s Savings page lists 3.40% APY as of June 4, 2026, and says the rate may change at any time.
What changed on April 3, 2024?
MacRumors reported on April 1, 2024, that Apple Savings’ APY would decrease from 4.5% to 4.4%, effective April 3. The report cited Apple backend data identified by contributor Aaron Perris and described the change as the account’s first rate cut. Apple’s public announcement of that specific reduction was not located, so the change is best described as reported rather than as a rate cut Apple publicly announced. MacRumors’ April 1, 2024 report
What is Apple Savings’ APY now?
Apple’s Savings product page lists a 3.40% APY as of June 4, 2026. This is a dated rate disclosure, not a promise that the rate will remain in place. Apple states, “APY may change at any time before or after account is opened.” Check Apple’s Savings page for the latest posted rate before deciding where to keep savings.
Why did Apple lower the rate?
The available reporting establishes the rate change, but not its cause. There is no sourced basis here to attribute the April 2024 reduction to a Federal Reserve decision or to a specific motive by Apple or Goldman Sachs. Apple’s current disclosure confirms that the APY is variable, but does not explain that historical change.

How Apple Savings works
Apple launched the account in April 2023 as a savings option for Apple Card users, with Daily Cash deposits as part of its design. At launch, Apple announced a 4.15% APY and said there were no fees, minimum deposits, or minimum balance requirements. The account is provided by Goldman Sachs Bank USA, Salt Lake City Branch. Apple’s current product page also identifies Apple Payments Services LLC, an Apple subsidiary, as a service provider for Apple Card and Savings accounts.
